Jacket smell

ok maybe it’s just me but every time i ski when i get home my hoodie/jacket and basically whatever else i wore has a distinct smell. it’s not like a horrible smell but also not great. almost smells like a shitty laundry detergent. anyone know what that is?

Probably is your laundry detergent for real though. It mixes weird with your sweat. Try an unscented brand.

usually a base layer. that never smells at all only the outer

Then I'm not really sure. I've noticed down jackets/sleeping bags tend to smell a bit like wet dog when wet but that usually goes away after they dry out. I use a base layer, down jacket and a waterproof shell most days. I hang the jacket and shell separately to dry every night and never notice a smell.
