Can NS Users Have a GIF for Profile Pic?

I know nobody will see this if I post it in site discussion so this is my best bet.

I’ve spent an hour trying to get a GIF to upload for my profile picture but it doesn’t upload. It defaults to the default grey NS photo.

Is there a size limit?
How come older members still have them?
Are GIFs no longer allowed as profile pics?
