I think I got screwed over by my shop

So firstly I know that this tread should probably be in gear talk but I needed more people to see it cause I really need help. I’ve been having problems with boots for years now, I’ve basically had to get new boots every year and sell the years priors just because I haven’t had great times with bootfitters.
anyway I finally went to a good bootfitter and they threw me in some FT classics (get full tilts I know) and they seemed the perfect fit in the shop while I walked around and tried them on. The salesmen/fitter told me that I would have to wait about a week for them to get some new ones cause (cause the display boot had seemed to be tried on/off a whole lot. About a day later I got a call that my boots were all ready to go and that I could get a free heat mold and everything if needs be, but I noticed that the boot I got was the same one from the display, I didn’t think anything of it but on the first day on hill I could definitely feel a huge difference. My right boot is as tight as it can go (display boot) and still feels loose while my left boot feels as good as butter and it’s only buckled about half way.

so my question is: did I get screwed over by receiving the display boot? And any suggestions to make them better, I would hate to have to go get fitted again

I wouldn’t say you got screwed over. Many boots get tried on and off. But sometimes if it’s on the shop floor, you might get a discount for “wear and tear” or a lot of people touching it. Shop floor items/display items more pertains to goggles and helmets, I’d say

Just take them back and show them your observations. Also tell them about your issue with the buckles and fit differences from foot to foot and let them sort it out.

Even it if was the same "display" boot, it shouldn't fit that different from the other boot. And why would only one boot be a display boot? No one tries on just one boot.

What's going on with the liners? Did you get them molded?

No i did not, but honestly it feels as if one of the liners was previously molded, I called the shop and they claimed that nothing should be wrong so I have no idea… but there definitely is a difference in the two boots

I think people make mistakes just not being honest and forthright with their feelings in the moment. When he was like hey here’s the display boot, you could have been like oh I thought we talked about this you said you didn’t want to sell me that boot because it had been tried on so much.

That being said like how many people could have possibly tried that boot on in a standing, sitting environment it seems unlikely to me that it would matter, just not an issue I’d ever heard about before.

You've just gotta go back and tell em what the issue is, see if the fitter can do some work on the boot to try and fix the issue. Just because they fit perfect in the shop does not mean you'll have the same exact experience on the hill you've gotta just fine tune it rarely have I been able to just get a boot that fits perfectly on the first day, but then again maybe I've just got funky ass feet.

No, he said the shop told him they were ordering new boots because that was the display they had in the store. Then the shop called him and said pick up your new boots, but after he picked them up and was skiing he realized they were the same boots he tried on.

To be honest here you could have small differences in between your two feet, which is very common and I see it alot as a bootfitter. What problems you have would most likely be solved in a heat mold but thats really up to the bootfitter. Hopefully they are reasonable if you go in and tell them your situation.

Would you suggest heat molding them?? I thought molding them would only make them looser?

Many years ago, my shop sold me boots that had 2 different tongue sizes for some reason. They first denied it, then had the manager to help troubleshoot. Once the tongue issue was identified, it took 3 months to get it replaced. I had to bother them 2,3 times a week to get them to do something about the 800$ boot they sold me.
The owner apologized for the clusterfuck, he was out of town and couldnt watch over the shop.

TreyDudskiWould you suggest heat molding them?? I thought molding them would only make them looser?
