17/18 ON3P Wrenegade 108 Mounting Point?

Today I just picked up a pair of 189 ON3P 108 wrens that I’m going to mount up with a pair of pivot 18s. Recommended is -9cm from center, I also ski switch a lot, not sure where to go here, I was thinking maybe -6?. I’m 6 foot 180 lbs, will be using these as a bridger bowl daily freeride charger (will ski switch a decent amount). Lmk what y’all think, and if anyone has experience with the ski please chime in. Super excited to ride these and complete the quiver.

Paul.Wrens are fun but you definitely want a woodsman instead if you want to charge more than a Jeffrey but still go switch on occasion

dwt802Yeah I mean ideally I wanted a woodsman 102 but couldn’t find one anywhere around me, or a 108. Found these and settled on them for the time and I think they’ll be sick and will do enough. Won’t need to ski stingers missing edge when there is no fresh snow anymore. It seems like they have a decentish tail. I’ll adapt to how the ski wants to ski more but I’m used to/would like to try to ski switch on them you know what I mean?

CatdickBojanglesI’ve heard the wrens can be a very punishing ski if you aren’t driving the shovels. I guess a forward mount could help if you ski in more of a neutral stance but I also feel like it could hurt more than help.

.[sanhedrin].Punishing is putting it lightly. I would argue nearly unskiable. I know proper technique is to do just that but don’t even consider shifting weight to the backseat or you’re in for a wild ride.


On an unrelated note I have a pair on Wren 98 in 179cm I’m looking to move in from.

dwt802It’s understandable for sure. Mount them where it was made to be so it skis how it should. My kartel 116s are at recommend of like -4.1 or something and ride great and feels closer to center. The Wren is much more directional but I still wanted to ski switch a decent amount on them so I feel like -9 is a little much. Really looking for more input though.

Been skiing these for 1.5 seasons now mounted at -5.5cm from true center and they still charge damn well. I can notice I am fighting the shape of the ski slightly but as someone who has always skied park and skis more symmetric mounted closer to center, I am happy with the mount point. I am able to ski switch decently well on groomers and in very shallow pow, the tail has enough rise to party. The skis still float and ski well in moderately deep snow as well.

To conclude, if you're transitioning from near-center mounted symmetric skis to wrens mounting slightly forward from rec of -9 would treat you pretty well and allows some compromise allowing moderate switch skiing while still ripping freeride well. I love these skis for charging.

brownetownReally appreciate the info, looking into a pair with the hybrid core myself. They have 2 mounts at rec sadly so I’m looking to go forwards of rec. I can ride switch on my kores mounted -2 from rec just fine so I might not go as far forward as you.. think -7 from tc would feel good if rec is -9?
