Taking helmet liner out on mips helmet?

is it ok to take the helmet liner out on a mips helmet? i have a giro ledge mips and i’ll obviously take the ear pads out but what about the liner that seems to be connected to all the mips stuff?

If you wanna take it out go for it but youll have no mips, (which you payed extra for) and a really uncomfortable helmet for no reason

It's gonna fit weird and kinda defeats the purpose of a helmet and the liner. Could always buy a skull cap for warmth instead and don't have to ruin your helmet.

I've done this, to that exact helmet. If I remember correctly, the liner is velcroed onto the MIPS layer, so just pull it off, and then cover the velcro bits on the MIPS layer with tape. Otherwise they'll grab your beanie and dig into your head.

I really don't think it affects the safety of the helmet, MIPS is just a slip plane that allows the helmet to rotate without your head rotating, so taking the cloth liner off of that layer doesn't affect how it works.

that’s exactly what i was thinking, the liner itself didn’t seem to be apart of the mips system and i’ve heard of tons of people taking the liner out to fit a beanie

i’ve done this for this exact purpose. as long as you’re not removing the mips thing and just the liner it’s not any less safe.
