Eldora appreciation post

I moved out to CSU to go to school after being a life long east coaster. After skiing Copper, WP, Breck, and keystone I’ve found myself being a regular user of the slopes at Eldora. It’s funny because I’m realizing there’s a lot of people who are not on board with Eldora so lemme make my case

who am I: I am a park rat college student who is just lookin for a sick park and a good vibe. And Eldora delivers. The energy there is so on point being a small rad little ski area. Nothing is fancy, the parking is dicey and icy, and most of the lifts are painfully slow. And that’s what I love about it. It’s all about the skiing really. And the Woodward instillation there obviously makes sick parks. Am I going to Eldora after a 16 inch sky falling? No. But when I’m looking to have a good time for an afternoon and maybe learn a trick or two I honestly wouldn’t be anywhere else.

I'm not, small local ski areas are the best. Even if they don't have the deepest snow, or the gnarliest terrain, the vibe at them is unbeatable, and that makes all the difference. It's what skiing is really about.

I’ve said this a million times. Eldora is good for beginners and it’s good for people who are actually good skiers and want to become better skiers. Do you enjoy some selection of rails, jumps, high angle carves, and torpedoing moguls? Do you like parking at the base, driving through a non traffic filled canyon, and small mountain vibes? If so eldora is great.

Most people who *think* they are good skiers are not actually so there’s nothing fun at eldora. If you want to backseat noodle down “a sick chute bro” in nice conditions for an ego boost then yea it’s not gonna be fun.

Eldora is fun, some good gully tree skiing, park is actually pretty fun and usually not too crowded. I’ll be there Monday if anyones around

Eldora was my go-to a couple seasons ago specifically because there was never any traffic getting there. I think that's why the vibes are so good, or at least why I'm always in a good mood when I get there. The grind of I70 every weekend will wear on you.

I love Eldora I’m from Denver originally and would go there most times.

im in Bozeman now and don’t get me wrong, the terrain is fuckin nuts here. But I wish there was a small resort that just focused on park here, maybe in Hyalite somewhere

I ski Eldora a fair amount early and late season because it is so close. It is great. The park goes through phases though. It is really good, then strange. Eldora just builds weird stuff sometimes. Just put in some jumps and tubes, stop turning around waterfalls so they step up. I saw like one person successfully hit that thing for the month it was there. But this year in general the park has been much better. I see an upwards trend with the Eldora park which is exciting. I believe that in a few years the park will be amazing, all the time. The mountain safety people need to chill though. They threaten to pull my pass multiple times a day. I got in trouble for boot skiing on a Tuesday on an open run. How is that not allowed? Supposedly I am "on their list" now. Over all I am lucky to have a little resort so close and I still love skiing there, these are just things that they have to work on.

The mountain safety stuff is because multiple people die there every year in collisions with other people or hitting trees.

Love hitting Eldora! Some legitimately great terrain for a small resort. Gotten more days there than any other resort the last 2 seasons, getting laps in before class can't be beaten it's still so surreal to me.

this. there is good skiing at literally any resort in colorado. people who say they don’t like certain resorts because the skiing sucks are the same people who brag about being able to ski blacks. If you have to tell me you can ski a black, then I definitely don’t want to ski with you.
