Best way to bend brakes in or cut off?

I moved to a longer but narrower ski this year and my old pivot brakes are too wide and have caught together a few times already. its mad sketch and looks goofy when I have to literally forcefully separate my feet. anyone who had this problem, what u do? just saw them shits off or what

Probably don't cut your brakes off unless you put on tethers. You skis will take a run with without at some point if you don't have brakes or tethers. You will probably either loose your skis or hurt someone if you crash. You can put on tethers maybe but if you ski releases the ski can come back and hit you.

How wide are your pivots and how wide are your skis?

no idea about the pivots. the skis are arv 86s and the brakes a good half inch out from the skis

Sounds like you have 95mm brakes. It’ll help you if you learn millimeters. I have had 95 brakes on an 84 underfoot ski and I managed to be fine. You have two options: get used to the 95s or nab some 75 width pivots and try to bend them to an 86
yungspliffyno idea about the pivots. the skis are arv 86s and the brakes a good half inch out from the skis

yeah, its definitely skiable, but the occasional brakes catching when ur going mach 5 down a groomer is terrifying. ill prob look for 75s thx

get yourself a nice Pozi drive or a big philips head thatll fit in your binding screws, some wood glue, a set of vice grips and another set of pliers or something to grab onto the break with, and a blue propane torch. Pull the heel piece off, grab onto the break with the vice grips right where it comes out of the heel piece, light up the torch and get your break red hot at its corner, and bend it back to straight with the other set of pliers. put some fresh glue in the ski and screw it back in

My local ski shop switched out my brakes for me before because they kept getting caught on eachother. You could call around and see if a shop in your area would be down to switch out the brakes for you
