Personal Newb Progression Thread

I saw some other guy make a thread like this earlier and I thought it was cool so I don't clog up ski gabber. I'm gonna just post my questions and shit like that in here for the aforementioned reason. As of now I'm moving on from boxes to rails, which I fucking suck at it but ski bumming it nonetheless. Gonna attach a clip of me yesterday to establish a baseline, if there's any form critiques or similar stuff you guys can give that would be dope, thanks.

so far so good. i'd work on getting rid of the small snowplows before the lips, it's not a huge deal but it builds bad habits. also maybe try to get that front arm back down in front of you

wanna try a lipslide? that's a good next step and will help you get your fundamentals cleaned up. also try a front 270 out, that will help ensure you learn to lock on to the rail and grip it a little

Thank you so much for the lipslide advice. I really needed to work on getting off the rail so trying this trick/drill was super dope today. I must’ve done it 80 times today on the rails shown in the clip. Thanks again I cannot stress how much this seemingly small tip helped.

great man that's sick! yeah i love lipslides and like you said they're kinda a good drill to run on yourself. keep it up dog

yea, no need to literally jump. try going gradually faster and lip on, letting the lip put you onto the rail naturally. once you get the hang of going lip on and gripping, then cleanly back to forwards you will build confidence and be ready for progression. most bigger rails ur not gonna be able to get onto like u did the first one in the video without it being sketch af anyways

also force yourself to stay centered over the rail until the very end or u will forever get in the habit of greasing off the side

This will flow in naturally but it would be a good idea to lower your stance for eventual spin offs and just balance in general

Took some advice here and am trying to do some 270s out. Any tips for forcing more rotation? I am able to get 180 degrees a majority of the time but I am struggling with the last 90.

Make sure to look at the end of the rail and have the inside edge of your left ski line up with the side of the rail. Don’t think about it too much that’s how you don’t commit and mess up or somehow get injured. Also I think Cubans are easier than box rails. I learned this from Jackson karsteter so I hope it works.
