Pvc to Metal

I’m super confident when it comes to pvc. fs fs, 270 on, fs bs. you get the idea. but when i go to my local resort i can’t do it. i don’t have any confidence going into rails and end up just tapping the rails. i hit one today after about an 1 hour of chickening out. then took a break and had the same problem. i also just got new skis ( Armada arv 84’s 157cm) and fortunes them, worked great on pvc but don’t feel comfortable on metal. any tips?

It's all in your head. PVC is a little slicker to metal feels different but if you build up some confidence and hit the metal you'll be fine

in my experience, a waxed metal rail feels almost identical to a PVC one. the main difference is that metal hurts more to fall on. maybe try to find a rail at your local that's most similar to your PVC setup in terms of lip height + shape and get comfy on that before moving to the rest of the park

this, metal and PVC behave a little differently but they're mostly the same and it's easy to get used to it. just focus on your fundamentals and do on the metal rail what you know how to do on the PVCs and show yourself it's not that different at all

also a flat bar will feel less like a PVC than a round bar, and the metal rails in parks vary in how slick and well maintained they are. find one that is closest to what you are used to and you'll be moving on in no time
