CeleryShawnee is just groomers for the most part. They used to have an okay park but it has barely existed the past couple years. All of their features are super old. Sunday river is worth the drive, and it will always have stuff open even in a shitty snow year. They have insane snowmaking capabilities. You can also for the most part always avoid crowds.
As for Portland it's an awesome little city. There's a bunch of beaches near by and it's not too far from hiking and like 3.5 from Acadia National Park. If you're into kayaking check out Portland paddle and I'll hook you up with the friends and family discount.
Word thats kind of how i imagined shawnee, ive been sunday river years ago and remember it being pretty top tier
as for kayaking i have a couple of my own lol, mostly for fresh water fishing though theyve never touched the ocean
