Anyone know how to fix bad knee pain

I decided that it was a good idea to ski 13 days in a row. My knees are busted. Also is it alarming that I can pop them incredibly loud now.

Skied like almost 30 days in a row over holiday break. Starting to notice a slight pain in my right knee and I’m scared I could be starting to duck up my knee finally, not stoked. Never had any knee problems in the past but have always skied a ton so I feel like it’s just bound to happen eventually. Keeping my fingers crossed. Knee shit sucks.

I feel like I deal with this almost every single year. I think it's an overuse thing. It has even taken me off my skis for 4-6 weeks a couple times. Just keep resting and icing, if it doesn't improve after a few weeks then it's a bit more concerning

Dealing with the same bs right now. My knee popped a bit painfully when I was just walking around the day after a very long week of a lot of skiing. Has been quite sore for 2 weeks now but no swelling. I would be much less butthurt if I actually hurt it skiing

The knees over toes guy (Ben Patrick) is legit. I even bought his book off amazon, Knee Ability Zero. My knees feel better than they have in years.

A lot of times knee pain can come from weakness or imbalances. The quads help hold the patella in place and if they’re weak (or tired from 13 days skiing) the patella can get pulled out of place. After rest/icing try doing some wall sits. This will help strengthen the quads and get them used to that sustained load they would get from skiing. It could also be from weakness in the glute medius (side butt). This muscle helps keep the femur in line when you squat or bend at the knee. Lots of exercises for this like clamshells or side laying leg raises, they’re all pretty 80s Pilates style, but strong glute medius will help keep everything lined up the way it should be.

Try wearing a knee brace. My dad completely tore apart his ACL while skiing in Europe and he's worn a brace for all sports ever since. He says he doesn't even notice it while skiing so def give it a shot.

Yoga will fix most issues that come from imbalances if you stick with it. Swimming some laps every other day will help a lot too.

Yup. Whenever I wake up all dazed and sore after totally overdoing it on a multi-day adrenaline bender, I'll
-Slam a gallon of water
-Do general sports stretches for a half hour
-Do a half hour of pilates or a hardcore strength building yoga routine
-Head down to my local oriental reflexology clinic and get a cheap acupressure massage.
Then I take a few days off and get right back into skiing.

Same as if I dont go to the gym for several months then jump straight into overdoing it on an intense full body weightlifting session.

@kneesovertoesguy on ig has helped. Placing a kettlbell on your foot and holding and slowly lowering it using your ankle is helpful

Been there. Last few years it was a battle with the knees to the very end. I had bruising and swelling around the knee and I could feel something heavy behind the acl.

Avoid hot showers and baths. This super aggravates the swelling. Keep it chill. Buy and use crutches to take the weight off the knee and let it recover. The more time and patience you put towards this, the less chances of having to deal with it to the end of the season.

There is a skate company called Old Bones Therapy that makes knee compression sleeves that are amazing. Game changing for me.

I did his course for 2 months. It’s pretty much the info in the book, but you send him videos of you doing the exercises and he will give you feedback on how you’re doing them. He’s actually really good about keeping up with your progress. If you want to go cheaper, get the book and watch YouTube. Pretty much the same without the feedback.
