First flip?

next weekend I would like to do my first flips. I would like to know what is easier between a backflip and a frontflip. I can do both on a tramp and I feel like misty 5 are easier than frontflip on a tramp. So should I send a back or a frontflip first? And between a frontflip and a misty what is easier?

To actually try for me it was backflip, but I’m pretty shitty at frontflips so keep that in mind

The backflip is the exact same as on a trampoline but you need to commit 100% and then you’ll be fine

IMO, front flip. Less punishing if you don’t make it around fully, u land on your ass instead of neck. It feels so similar to flipping into a swimming pool. Just step into it off the lip with your dominant foot, and swing it around. Once u land one they get cleaner and cleaner so fast since you’re not afraid of it anymore.

I would try a pow jump for the first attempt because your gonna be in a lot of pain if u mess up on a park jump

first off good job sending your first backie, but imo u need a bigger jump. realistically it might seem scarier but in all honestly its safer and teaches you to spot landings instead of tuck and pray

A friend told me when I was learning backflips that the jump should be big enough that you are more scarred of the jump than the flip. It honestly worked. Maybe don't take it to that extreme but a bigger jump that you can lay out the flip on and fiddle with the rotation in the air is best

Tell your cameraman to get closer to the jump first.

k, I got something to work with, but not much. Either you didnt commit to the end, or something made you stop in your rotation.

So Im going out on a limb and say you stop your rotation mid way, then panic. Your center of rotation is your knees and not your hips. It causes inertia/momentum problems in the flip due to a weight difference between your extremities and center of rotation.
Now, how to correct this: you have to thrust your hips forward and up and layback. A tuck is an acceleration for the fine tuning of a landing. Its not for; I need to do it to clear it. Then you are just a Jerry.
So last piece of advice is go way bigger. I mean 4x bigger. If your not confortable with it, I suggest some more progression before trying it again. There is a reason why flips are dangerous…

Front flips are harder than backflips because they bring you around “blind” to the landing. I’d do backflips first for the air awareness.

This is what my first backie attempt looked like. Basically u want a steeper landing then me and a steep lip that will sorta kick you into the rotation. Also fully commit

Means give the flips a rest and be comfortable hitting 360s and 720s on the same jump you wanna flip.
But if ya prefering hucking meat on a bump, I guess thats cool too.

bigger steeper jump and it didn't look like you had the rotation in your hips, it looked like you kind of stopped halfway. pop hard and get those hips into the flip and look for the landing

You opened up instead of staying tucked. This stopped your rotation. Keep your knees close to chest or even grab your knees (cannon ball) on small jumps like that

personally ive never done a frontflip or misty, but id imagine misty is harder. Ive done backlfips though and i think theyre easier cuz u can spot the landing better.

Don't misty first do a fronty, or backy. I tried misty 5 as my first flip and I still can't land a misty. Most people start with frontflip to get the upside down fear to go away then backflip. If you wanna practice backys I'de reccomend diving board or cliff over trampoline, but unecesssary.

Bigger jump. Although this jump is flip-able, it would take a lot more huck. Wouldn’t recommend because the landing is gonna come around so fast that you won’t be builder any “landing-spot” skills. Looks like you uncommitted when you were upside down. You’d have to huck twice as hard and hold your knees tight for the whole flip.
