Best college to ski at

I am a senior at Boise high in Idaho and good accessible skiing in college is a must!

I’m most likely going to major in mechanical or biomed engineering and my top 3 schools im looking at are Montana State University, University of Utah, and University of British Columbia.

I’ve toured the first 2 and liked both but what we thinkin for the best college from a ski standpoint?

I’m a pretty well rounded skier who likes big mtn but will also spend entire days lappin park with the boys!

Students at these schools/ex-students, anything I should know?

GetshiftyI see allot of people talking about UBC, great school both my sisters go there, it might’ve just been circumstances but it seemed hard to get in to. I have a twin sister we both did full IB, I had a 1380 on the SAT and a 3.85 GPA and she had a 1440 and a 4.0 GPA. We both got waitlisted for science and she eventually got in but I didn’t. So if you are applying there either make sure your grades are good, or your application is really good. Why I said it might’ve just been circumstances is that I’m a Canadian citizen who isn’t a resident in Canada, and I applied right when covid started so that may have affected things.


I'm in almost the exact situation. We'll see how things go. Don't know if I want to pay for online school tho because of covid.

I suggest you go to a junior college in Kansas. Here me out… you’ll be the only skier there which will automatically make you the best skier at your school.

Yeah I’ve been trying to film a video this year and we’ve hit a few spots. Always looking for people to film with it would be sick to get a group together next year there

In terms of colleges with legit ski clubs … USC used to have one of the most legendary. I dunno if they still do but their ski club was pretty well known

SSteezleUVM is also incredibly expensive for anyone out of state. Not speaking for OP, but I went out west from the east coast for less than a 1/4th of the cost and got 6X the snowfall. If you are a skier first, go out west for school. East coast skiing does not compare.

I totally understand your point UVM is expensive, but to say if skiing is first then go out west is wrong. It has accessibility to so many mountains, many with some of the sickest parks in the country, and a lot back country exploration in the area as well.

Stowe has 22" YTD. Utah and Colorado have 200-300". West has backcountry too, and it's much better than east coast 'exploration'. If skiing is first, then go out west.

I'd give you the park accoladed once and awhile, but it sounds like you've never skied outside of the east coast.
