Help me decide what my next ski should be!

If you like your camoxs, then i would really consider the Atris. Really nice flex and awesome all around the mountain regardless of snow conditions. Just curious, where do you ski at?

I'd love to help you out. I bought a brand new pair of Ranger 102 FRs and I've been staring at them every day in my bedroom because the weather on the east coast has been absolute horse shit. It's currently raining...... again. In case you haven't noticed I'm really butthurt about it and I've picked this thread to complain about it.

Anyways, carry on. I'll fill you in on my opinions about them when winter actually arrives. Even though the vendor already has asked me twice to review them.

Sorry to wet-blanket the thread, I'm just dying to ski and there's currently no light at the end of the tunnel. It's fucking 53 degrees. Someone talk me off the ledge lol.

I ski in the west, home mountain is steamboat

+1 for sakana. I ski a 107 underfoot too with a pretty similar looking shovel and it works well in Colorado

Vishnu keys would do the job.

The SFB’s are super soft and probably not great if you wanna charge

corvidI am looking to get a new pair of skis to join the quiver. Right now I currently have a pair of Black Crow Camoxs, a pair of N168 Northlands, and a pair of Stockli GS world cup Fis skis lmao. I used to race years ago and still love ripping groomers and hauling ass. But in the past few years, I have found that I have the most fun sending it through the crud and jumping off of shit. I also enjoy the steeps. I think I am looking for something more playful than my daily driver black crows right now. they seem stiff for some of the things I want to do, ie butters. I don't spend any time hitting rails and I don't see myself starting but I do love the kickers and rollers in the park on a nice spring day. Right now there are 5 skis I am looking at that will become my new everyday skis. the Sir Francis bacons, the black crow atris, the Sakanas, the deathwishes, the Hotshots and the Bent chetlers. If you have any other suggestions I am all ears thanks!

If you want something more playful than the camox, it probably wont be a ski that you can ski quite as hard. If you want to butter you either need to learn to do it on the camox, or buy a softer ski that will not be as stable or chargey. That being said, the skis that you mentioned:

bacon: really soft, easy to butter. Not stable at high speed or big landings in less than ideal conditions (I.e. crud, chop)
atris: stable, pretty directional (-8 mount). Not a ski to butter on, think of this one as a stiffer more powerful camox
Sakana: great in pow, obviously very directional. Not the most balanced in the air, not very stable in chop/crud due to its light weight
Deathwish: similar to atris with more balanced, freestyle feel. Stable, damp, good in just about every condition
hotshot: never skied it, can’t give an opinion
Bent Chetler: extremely light, playful but gets bullied by anything other than perfect pow. Would not recommend this ski unless it’s serving you as a touring/pow ski only.

What I can think is whether you want to charge, be playful, or a mixture of both(with some drawbacks). The charging skis usually implement both wood and metal cores to keep the skis stiffer, but still usable in the pow. Playful skis are generally lighter with all wooden cores. The skis you listed generally lean in that direction. If you want a playful pow ski, then get one at head height or slightly over. Charging would be a different shape of ski(most likely directional) which would also be head height. If you want a mixture of both, get a playful ski that is taller than you(between 5-15 cm taller). Candide skis in this range above his head for preference. This will increase your overall stability and you can still get a decent flex in the ski. This may however restrict you from spins and rotations unless you go extra huge as a safety measure to keep tips from catching Along with skiing the trofts in the bumps(jump over em😎). This along with the rocker profile of the ski is why I like skis taller than me because I won’t have to get a charging specific ski. Granted, the ski is still softer than a charger, but generally more balanced in the air. I’d suggest some reckoners or ON3P jeffreys(maybe some factions too), but the bents rip(I demoed 120s). Some of the most near center mounted fat skis you can get being -2.5 from true center.
