Demo guy insisted that I don't try Whitewalkers, is he right

Here at Big Sky and thinking about demoing some skis tomorrow just for fun. Want to try Armada Declivity and Whitewalker. I asked about the Whitewalker and the guy managing rentals insisted that they're too light and I'd scratch them up too much (core shot ig??) then have to straight up pay for them. He recommended the Declivity X instead for current conditions.
Conditions here are: consistent fresh snowfall every day, but also some rocks exposed on most tree/bump runs. Is this dude spitting BS or facts?

sounds like some BS. if conditions are all sharky it's just as likely that you'll get a core shot on any ski really. also what kind of demo is getting all agro and threatening to make you pay for skis before you ride. seems like the factory reps should be expecting some damage throughout the season anyways and the whole point is to get you feeling good so you go out and buy new skis from their brand down the line. honestly I probably would not want to demo any skis from someone that threatened me with some sort of you break it you buy it bs before I took the skis out

Yeah I don't doubt there is some sort of agenda going on with that lmao.

Also the whole part about having to buy DEMOS if you break them is sus as fuck. How are you supposed to properly demo a freeride ski if you can't ski them in real freeride conditions?? I'm not jumping cliffs or anything, just going over some rocks in between bumps lmao

I work at a shop and we demo all of our skis. After about 7-10 days of demoing the ski is all paid off and it’s sheer profit. The whole idea is that you can ride the skis and get a proper feel for them before purchasing. If anything; homie should’ve encouraged you to rip some drops, get in the trees, and try the ski in different environments on the mountain.

I coreshotted the living shit out of some Weston skis on demo day last season and the demo guys said it was fine. You should be able to demo what you want.

Yeah definitely pure bs! Dude wanted to ride them for sure. They’re two badass skis but totally different skis and the WW is a savage! Like I’m definitely taking that ski only for my trip down to bigsky.

I got a pair this year... Only ski'd one day on em and we were still way low tide, so I didn't get to really run em hard but definitely didn't 'click' with em... we'll see... hopefully they're dope when I figure em out... Sammy makes em look sick... but then again he made the Salomon Czar look sick too...

Update: went to the shop today when I got bored. Different guy was there and let me demo the Whitewalkers. Fun af ski, definitely a different personality from the Outsiders but still fun. Not really good enough in bumps or chargy enough for me to wanna have em as my next ski. Also it gave me some good perspective on how the Outsider is in comparison to other rockered fat skis.

Skiers that are way better than you will make every ski look sick. Also, those Czars were fucking sick. I still regret flogging mine off.
