Summit county, CO in number 1 in the nation for positive covid tests per 100,000 people right a head of pitkin county. Hows it feel to be number 2 Aspen?! Eagle county (vail, avon, edwards) in 5th.




Back to mask mandates. Hopefully it doesn’t progress too much more than this but the looming fear of another lock down is on my mind.

Nothing is gonna shut down, only reason anything every shut down in early 2020 was due to uncertainty and no vaccines, we're in a much different place now.

Places like the Netherlands are in a partial lock down right now. Pretty sure they have vaccines


I agree though. I doubt itll happen here again. Shoulda clicked the hospitalization tab to see if it aligns cause i hear vaxxed people have much milder symptoms and dont need the medical attention as frequently.

Those European countries are much more cautious, the USA ain't gonna do shit except tell ya to where a mask.

At this point, the only people in danger are the unvaccinated and if you haven't gotten vaxd by now, you're probably not gonna do it.

But yeah I highly doubt it. Antivirals are coming, while they will be in short supply, and vaccines are in surplus.

We're actively getting prepped to move from counting cases due to home tests. That'll largely happen in the next few months.

Our move for the future of this is to have a surplus of home tests that you can take. Going to visit Grammy tomorrow? Swab and be comfortable with it. Feeling under the weather? Swab and know if you should isolate.

It'll take a massive load off of the healthcare system and give some breathing room.

euro countries definitely go too hard on the restrictions but again if we did the same thing here we’d have a bunch of children crying about MUH FREEDOMS being taken away for 2 weeks

Nothing is shutting down unless it's a local or state specific mandate. The people who aren't vaccinated are the ones who didn't want shutdowns last time. The ones vaccinated will be fine and they also wanna get on with their lives. The vast majority of those suffering are unvaccinated and to the vaccinated, it is very much like a bad cold now. Kind of ironic.


But anyway it's gonna be a rough couple weeks. Don't be surprised if we hit a million cases a day by next Friday.

European countries also tend to have better safety nets too, so if a person needed to quarantine or a business temporarily shut down, they get support by sOcIaLiSm.

but in USA land of capitalism—you no work, you die. but it’s the freedom to make that choice i guess… doesn’t help that we have a super divided congress where each party blames their reps for not being extreme enough, so bipartisanship is non-existent. Instead of party over country, we could be fully capable to draft up emergency bills that give instant support to individuals and small businesses impacted, but since both parties are voted by the people to fight like children…

omnicron(?) doesn't fuck around in terms of spreading. It's beyond lucky it doesn't seem to be as bad as delta or the regular virus.

still kinda pissed that my gym is closed but I also don't feel like getting covid again, even if it is a much easier going variant.

It doesn't appear as bad yet, however the hospitalizations are up again because so many more (unvaccinated) people have it and need admitted. Also flu is back in full force with other respiratory stuff. Now the pediatric hospitals are full too (partially cuz staffing shortages) and they were utilized for adult overflow last year. Ohio needed the national guard brought to Columbus last week to assist with the adult hospitalizations. Add in that our Monoclonal antibodies are basically useless due to mutations so we only have one version of those left and that's on critical shortage. Then supply chain issues has nearly everything on shortage. Not a good place right now.

What's really interesting is we are gonna be running into staffing shortages coming up due to people testing positive. My department already had 5 people in the last day test positive that we know about and previously we were one of the better ones for avoiding catching covid..... Just checked my email and we had almost 200 employees test positive yesterday and rocking a 50% positivity rate... Fugggggg

It helps too that Omicron has a massive infection rate but incredibly low mortality rate so its going to speed up the natural herd immunity. The "Vaccine" has shown to mitigate personal symptoms but not much to prevent spread and infection so Omicron may be a big step forward in actual future slower infection rates.
