griffins are just flat out better than pivots
any one of you highschoolers trying to talk shit you go test 100 pairs of pivots on a wintersteiger and tell me how many of them actually release in their intended range first try
@Jerry._.gang on tiktok has to be the worst he has a video of him epoxying a top sheet peel back on his on3p’s and the comment section experts give constructive advise on how to fix it which is even worse

i recently mounted some used jesters on a new pair of skis and the tech said he had to turn the din on the heel piece up by 1.5 for it to release at the prescribed level. i have not experienced this with any of my pivots, although all of the markers i have had have worked just fine too (aside from this minor spring tension issue mentioned above)

pivots sit way lower than most bindings and some people just like the feeling that gives the skis. I dont like that feeling because when you have a pivot on a wider ski you have way less leverage to get the ski on edge. my 121s with jesters are easier to get on edge than my 112s with pivots because of the binding stack heights.
Some people also say that pivots release more reliably and the turntable heel are better for your knees or whatever but thats just urban legend. ski bindings are made to protect your bones from snapping in your lower leg not your knees. from testing tons and tons and tons of bindings in a demo shop I can tell you from my experience pivots are usually running hotter than the indicated din says which is why people probably say they dont pre release as much.
In terms of durability i dont think pivots are any more durable than any other bindings. In fact ive probably seen pivot heel pieces ripped out of skis and broken more than any other alpine binding I see. It could be that skiers on pivots are just sendier and as a result break their shit way more but in terms of broken bindings it goes Shift, kingpin, pivots, and then everything else just based on the shop im in.
