Replying to Bad boot experience
lemme tell you about the saga that is my horrid experience with ski boots
in 2017, my parents bought me a pair of SPK’s. These were the best boots I ever had. They were perfect flex, fit, and pretty cool too.
then, I was involved in a car wreck that ruined the boots in the trunk. that sucked. Insurance was going to pay for a new set of boots thankfully. I went to a local store (that shall remain unnamed because I’m still salty at them) and me and my brother (who’s stuff was also ruined) were set up with a boot fitter. This guy did not know what he was doing. @tri_photo can attest to this, he wanted full tilts and the guy was trashing FT and tried to talk him out of them. Didn’t work, and he still has and loves his boots.
the boot fitter stuck me in dalbello panterra 120’s, and despite my protest on the fit, look, and flex, he insisted it was the boot for me. He talked to my dad who was also there and pulled the “I’m the boot fitter I know what’s best” card. I walked out of the store with uncomfy and ugly boots that day.
didn’t even last a full year in those boots they were hell every day I skied in them. One day after skiing my foot had a blister that popped and shot across the room and my toenail was completely black and peeled all the way off.
went back to the same store and got a pair of FT descendent 8’s. These boots have been up and down for me. Obviously the break in period sucked, but some days I’d have horrible foot pain and others I’d have none at all. This year it’s been pretty bad so far. Just got custom footbeds, the first break in day was pretty rough but my foot at least felt sturdy and supported
why did that idiot have to ruin my spk’s
tldr: i had the perfect pair of boots for 4 months and haven’t gotten a good pair since
