Shortening brake length?

What are the brake widths and how wide are the skis? I've done it to make mine stay out of the way a lil better but I wouldn't do it by much. Also, only do it with a boot in the binding or you'll mess up the retract mechanism and they'll start to rattle.

With a boot in binding, hook a pole strap around the brake and pull it across the ski. Not something that should need to sit overnight, just be careful not to bend too far. or they may catch on the ski when opening.

Sounds like a 115 brake. I use 95 brakes on 90mm skis and that's the next size down which would also probably need to be bent, though bending them wider is typically easier than bending inward. Either way just have a boot in the binding if you bend the brakes in any direction.
