Ski resorts that raised their base pay in 2021

did some digging through google to see what ski resorts raised the minimum wage this year. overall this is a really good trend in the industry, but the wage compression has screwed up a lot of retention plans for ski patrollers and other veteran employees. if you know of any more resorts lmk, but here's the list so far:



- (June 2021) Vail increases base pay to $15/hr across multiple resorts including Breckenridge, Park City, Vail (in 2015 they raised the base pay to $10/hr)

- (July 2021) Deer Valley, UT raised base pay to $15/hr

- (August 2021) Solitude Mountain, Utah raised base pay to $15/hr

- (August 2021) Sugarbush, Vermont raised base pay to $15/hr

- (August 2021) Taos Ski Valley, NM raised base pay to $15/hr (raised to $10/hr in 2015)

- (September 2021) Ski Copper, CO raised base pay to $15.25/hr

- (September 2021) Mt Rose Ski Tahoe, Nevada raised base pay to $15/hr

- (October 2021) Mt. Hood Meadows in Oregon raised its base pay to $15/hr and increased wages for all employees by $1.25/hour

- (November 2021) Aspen, CO raised base pay to $17/hr, increased wages for existing employees (base pay was $15/hr in 2019 and $13.50 in 2018)

- (December 2021) Jackson Hole Resort in Wyoming raised base pay to $18/hr

I'm the terrain park manager at Manning Park Resort in BC. Minimum wage is $18/hr and staff housing is only $260 a month. It's the only resort I know of that you can actually make/save money working at. The staff housing is actually pretty nice too. If anybody is looking to do a season in BC on a budget I would recommend this place.

15/hr is the same buying power as 13/hr in just 2016. Don't celebrate this literally nothing is happening right now besides inflation.

pretty sure Mt Bohemia upped theirs to 20/hr

This. I was lucky to find a room really close to parelys in SLC but everything I came across in my housing search outside of Park City was in the ballpark of $900-1,200/month for rooms and forget trying to get your own place....at least 2-3k/month for stuff thats still a 30 minute drive away from work. You almost have to get a 2nd job to cover living expense so forget having freetime. Employee housing is extremely limited too while we're at it. There are affordable housing developments being planned for certain areas near ski towns so its getting marginally better. The ones I looked at though would still be hard to afford on a $15/hr wage.
