Jackson or targhee

I’m going to my grandmas for New Years weekend and she lives fairly close to both Jackson hole resort and grand targhee. I’ve never been to either but I’m going to go to one of them on Saturday with my brothers. Which one is a better choice for those that have been? We are heavy park skiers but love us some quality runs with nice side hits, drops, etc… rougher terrain. Which has a better park?

Targhee without a doubt. Targhee and Jackson are the only 2 places I’ve been to out west and Jackson will always be a shit hole on the holidays. All the in bounds hiking terrain at targhee is great. Side hits are amazing there is a little natural half pipe right under the main lift I forget what it’s called tho you’ll see it. Also targhees parks are better too.

Targhee for sure if you're looking to avoid crowds with the holidays, it's also just better overall in my opinion.

Where does she actually live? I would make my decision based on that if lift ticket price isn't an object. If you're staying in Jackson or Wilson, it's an easy call to ski the village. If you're staying on the Idaho side, Targhee is the move. But for vacation, over the holidays, I feel like you'll probably have a similar quality of terrain parks and general experience at either resort.

In my experience Targhee gets a bit more snow than Jackson and is less crowded. I've had some of the best powder days of my life in Targhee. It's all traditional lifts so if you enjoy being in a tram or gondola, that could be one consideration. Jackson will be more crowded for sure but has more of a park than Targhee generally. Not sure about how their season has been so far.

Targhee will be cheaper for a single day if cost matters.

'Ghee has been firing..still low coverage tho, most of the mountain is open but no park. jackson only has a couple of runs open but they do have a couple rails set up. gonna be busy at both places during the holidays

Targhee is a vibe, lots of fun stuff to ski and you avoid the shit show.

And please for the love of god, if your going to WY and its snowing.....dont spend you time in the park haha

Depends on where your family lives, but of the two, I'd say Targhee. Jackson has tons of rad stuff, but its more expensive, gets crazy over the holidays, and has less snow (meaning that lots of the cool shit is still not gonna be quite filled in).

Like others have said, depends where you are staying. From what I have heard from family and friends, both are lacking in snow at the moment but are open with limited runs. Grew up skiing them both and both have their niches. Enjoy your time with family and have fun!

I work at J Hole, catch me at Targhee on all the off days. Actually on my way now for a chill Targhee tuesday with the boys, gonna be grilling dogs in the parking lot, ripping Rainiers, and vibing. Sure the cliffs are gnar at j hole but the good stuff isn’t gonna be open for weeks/months.
