betzidk what happened this post got messed up. But basically I was trying to say Sugar bowl thrives on it's exclusivity, and they ended their part in the powder alliance because they think they're better than the other resorts. I wish more would be like Sierra. I think independent resorts trying to be more exclusive only makes more people want to go to Epic or Ikon.

I have no issues paying $60 for a day pass but 0% chance in hell I'm dropping $120-240 for a fucking day pass. Got the surprise of my life at Stowe one time and never again. It's insane. A lot of independent places still have really good lift ticket prices especially with liftopia so I'm grateful for that.

BigPurpleSkiSuiton the whole, I agree with this. I love how more people are able to enjoy skiing via Ikon, but there needs to be either terrain expansion, or more chairlifts to be able to handle the increased crowding because of it. The equivalence I would draw is if you lived in an apartment that was a 2 bedroom and your landlord informed you that starting next year they would be also renting it out to a group of 10 yuppies who all can afford much higher rent than you. Also they will always be using the amenities, so you will have to wait at least a few hours to shower in the morning. It's just overcrowding for the sake of profit on someone who can't defend themselves anyways. So yeah, for resorts to just be doing it as a massive cash grab while barely paying their employees anything is a bit of a slap in the face.

Yeah unfortunately the resorts dictate prices. They raise ticket prices to a level that is unaffordable. Then you see these multi resort passes that cost the equivalent of 3 days at some places. It's a no brainer to save money but also annoying how capitalism works. This is an endless debate.

Your problem is when you ski and where you ski. If you want peace, get a pass to powmow and get an ikon or epic for traveling and for those epic days at other places. Outside of last year's ludicrous covid lift rules, I've never waited more than a few minutes for a chair, and most times I ski right on. I've only skied snowbird ~5-6 days over the past few years (4/6 times were on day passes) and I never had issues with lines; worst case take the singles line.

Weekends anywhere are gonna be a shit show especially if it's a pow day. Unfortunately we seem to forget that we aren't the only ones who had the idea to ski today nor do we own the mountains with some heritage right or something.


Ahhhh I hate all these threads. Just ski. All I bitch about is when idiots fall off and stop the lift that services mainly advanced terrain. Or snowboarders and jerries stopped, sitting, or hidden around blind icy curves and under rollers. Probably the same people that ride your ass to the ski hill.

Only natural to be angry at the most successful at anything, Amazon, Tom Brady, etc. Only way to be happy is to accept it for what it is and find the silver lining. You can hate on Vail, but it wouldn't be so bad if you had bought stock in Vail 10 years ago...or now

yeah it sucks what Vail does. but living in WA I’m not far from Stevens Pass… and usually take a trip or two a year to Whistler, sadly the epic pass is a good investment in my situation

Actually I think if Amazon and vail were more like Tom Brady I’d be a fan. Most successful qb of all time and still puts his team first while always looking to improve. Those are very good business practices compared to vail/ Amazon. But yeah i think this thread has been productive in seeing a lot of different perspectives and hating on things in general is a shitty way to live life, so ima not worry about vail anymore and just ski.

TBH I used to hate on Brady all the time, but seeing him let loose in Tampa after the SB win and actually show some real personality made me do a 180 and truly appreciate the greatness
