Olympics Freeski

Okay guys, maybe I’m just dumb but after searching for awhile, I still can’t figure it out.


How do we tell who is heading to the Olympics in these disciplines? Especially for the US, CAN and ski heavy parts of Europe.


I know we have limited spots on who we send but the individual qualifying aspect is relatively easy.

Please help.

Every country has a different criteria but at the end of the day world cup points & podiums and how the local FIS people feel determine who goes and who doesn't.

For Team USA this year, I think this is how it works in terms of Olympic Tryouts and Qualifying. Event schedule with comps:

Not many comps left for big air or slope but superpipe has a few more qualification opportunities for athletes. Should be interesting.

This makes the most sense, I wish there was a place to see current standings for this kind of thing.

Always exciting watching the build up to the games and seeing who comes out swinging.

Honestly I know its the Olympics and truly, its not a core event, but hey its the fuckin Olympics, its still pretty fun to watch and athletes SHOW UP for that shit.

I'm a bit of a homer for team usa but honestly the rookie freeski team headed by dave euler should be something to watch out for this year and into the future. So damn good, so much good talent as well.

dont listen to everyone saying its not core. its still fun to watch, its cool to see some of our favorite riders represent on the olympic level honestly. I was hyped when Joss won gold. Hes a hometown hero.

Its fine if you don't understand the difference, but what you're doing in this thread is expressing an opinion that is negative and not aligned with the topic of the thread. You're deliberately trying to push your contrarian opinion to make yourself appear different and "cool" and thats great you dont like xgames/olympics/contests but this thread is about how the US olympic team is selected. that was a long time ago when that type of skiing was more interesting in general, unless there's interesting skiers like Matej svancer or ferdi im not gonna watch

(not arguing just talking) i don't pay much attention to the comp circuits but i think i assumed matej and others like him will be there?

also i'm kinda curious if henrik can take it. he was my bet to win gold in 2018
