Fit my foot to a ski boot

PeaHead96*** I live in Europe and don’t have a bootfitter within 20 hrs driving of my location. I have a podiatrist who can make custom footbeds and can stretch/grind/punch and work on ski boots. But he does not work in a ski shop and therefore does not have a plethora of boots for me to try. I’m gonna post my feet specs below and just hope that someone can help me narrow down my choices. I’ll have to order these boots online. Not ideal, but what else can I do.

This scan was done with a pair of cotton socks on.

Right foot:

Heel to toe: 294 mm
Last: 97 mm
Instep height: 62 mm
Heel width: 73 mm
Instep classified as: low
Arch classified as: medium

Left foot:

Heel to toe: 291 mm
Last: 99 mm
Instep height: 65 mm
Heel width: 73 mm
Instep classified as: medium-low
Arch classified as: high

^As you can see, I’ve got some skinny ass feet and ankles. And my right ankle is rolling inside and doing some weird shit; probably as a result of cheap boots in the military. So hopefully footbeds would stabilize that foot and help it mirror the left one more.



Also I’m fairly certain that I have quite limited ankle dorsiflexion.

Looking for a resort boot that suits all mountain skiing. I already have a touring boot that fits me well.

Yeah but if anyone could help me that would be great.

What is the touring boot that's working for you?

Also where in Europe do you live? Above the arctic circle or on some island in Greece?

I'm not a bootfitter, but what touring boot do you currently have and what size is it? If it fits well, it could be a good starting point for some of the experienced guys on here to help you out

Tecnica Zero G Tour Scout (120 flex) in a size 29.5. But, the stock liners aren’t thick enough for my chicken legs. I suffered through last season with them. Putting an intuition luxury liner in them come Friday.

And yeah, above the Arctic circle, northern Norway.

Tecnica Zero G Tour Scout in 29.5. Love the boot except for the liner. Not thick enough around the leg to give me a tight fit. Replacing with an intuition luxury liner come Friday.

Some super narrow feet there if you measure 97mm at a 29. For reference most 98mm boots in a 29 would be 104mm wide.

So if these measurements are correct you want to look for something narrow and fairly low volume.

You can see though that the medial arch is fairly collapsed on both feet. This will be making the foot slightly longer than it will be when supported by a footbed. My guess would be you will be best in a 28. By raising the arch back up this will raise your instep slightly but I would still suggest looking for a low volume boot.

Perhaps something like a Atomic Hawx Ulta or Salomon S-Max in a 28 could be worth a try.

I also suffer from chicken leg syndrome and run the Zero G Tour Scout for touring. Put the Intuition Wrap Tour Pro (or whatever the name is) in there which solved most of my problems.

Smax is what I run as a similar foot type

Yeah I know I've got straight clown feet.

But I appreciate all the input so far. I'm fairly interested in the S/Max and Hawx Ultras. The general consensus for both of those boots seems to be that the cuffs are fairly low volume. Just wish I could try them both on back to back.

I have a brand new pair of Tecnica Mach1 130 LVs. They're a size 28.5. A shell check with no liner gives me about 10-14 mm behind my foot when I push it to the front of the shell. So it's a super tight fit. But that's also with my slightly collapsed arches. The boots have great heel hold from what I can tell and they're tight all around with no extremely bad hot spots; but I can't even get the power strap tight. So that's a bumper. For as much as the boots cost, I would hope for the stock liner and strap to work with my lower leg. I'm gonna take them to the podiatrist tomorrow to see what he says, but I'm pretty sure I would rather have a boot that fits my lower leg better.

Also I'm not 100% sure that I need a 130 flex boot. I'm 186 cm (6'1") and weigh 88 kg (195ish lbs) and have pretty limited ankle dorsiflexion (from what I can tell). The Tecnicas were pretty hard to flex in my living room, but maybe that's because of my poor ankle ROM.

Tromsø area. Isn’t much of “resort” scene whatsoever here. But there’s some local hills with good in bounds and out of bounds skiing, and the kids aren’t old enough to go touring yet.
