Opinion Needed - Return new skis or no

Need some opinions - got a new pair of skis today that I ordered a few weeks ago. Looks like the skis have some damage on them - box they came in was pretty rough - upon opening and inspecting the skis, the top deck on one ski has a pretty decent mark/abrasion/scratch/damage on it; bases on each have some scratches and small gouges. So...is this enough to return them, ask for a partial refund, or NBD? I don't really need them immediately, so I don't have a problem sending them back, but they have to go to Europe from the US...so not exactly a quick exchange.

Its all pretty much cosmetic looking stuff that will happen when you ride them anyways, so I wouldn’t bother exchanging them.

Don't sweat it. That's nothing. Brush them up, and wax them up. Enjoy.
Not even a race ski would be affected by those little scratches.

See if skatepro will send you a t shirt or something? It's really likely the shipping company was responsible but that won't be an easy claim I don't think.

If it was a place you could bring it back to maybe but sending them to europe? Fuck that. You'll probably have to pay the shipping, and who knows when you'll get them back.

Once you ride em it won't make any difference and you'll scuff em up.

Call the company you purchased them from and politely explain the issue. Tell them you understand this is only cosmetic - but you wouldn't buy a new car with a dent in it from the dealer. See if they can do a partial refund or hook you up with a tiny bit of store credit/a t shirt or beanie

I mean when you save up loot to buy a new set of skis it's kind of a bummer to have them shown up a little thrashed in a torn box. No need to hate on em imo.

Obviously the answer is to just ski em, fuck it, but i get it.

You see, when I first met @WoFlowz mom she was what one might call “used goods” but I looked past it. Was able to ride her over and over again with no issues. Sure she looked like a hooker from a Missouri truck stop, sure her vagina looked like a roast beef sandwich from Arbys, sure her son is a little bitch… I was still able to make the best of it though and look past those things.

so moral of the story is… ride those skis sir! Ride them like I rode @WoFlowz mother. You’ll be glad you did and have lots of memories to look back on.

idk how much OP paid for the skis but the box literally showed up broken almost in half, he has every right to expect his purchase to show up in good shape and it's worth asking about when it doesn't. and if the base damage was any worse i'd be pissed

however OP those look fine and i definitely wouldn't want to deal with sending them back, i wouldn't worry about it in this case and just use them. you could show the pictures to the company though if you want, they may or may not give you a (very) partial refund or some store credit or something lol

You assume he is going to be riding rails with the skis. Just because this is NS, not every one, or every pair of skis, will be doing that.

None of the marks looks terribly deep or exessive so they won’t hurt the integrity of the ski, wouldn’t bother returning them because all of those could happen in a normal day of skiing and the ski would still last years to come.

Op email them with the photos and demand a replacement or refund. You bought new skis and should expect them to arrive as such; anyone on here telling you differently is afraid of conflict and a little bitch. Tell them they can pay for the shipping to return but you need skis for this season that's already begun and unless they can get you skis fast, a return/replacement ain't gonna work. Tell them it's bad enough you are wasting your valuable time for this issue that should be reconciled. If they shipped with FedEx or UPS, it is pretty much guaranteed to be insured to the full amount otherwise the seller is dumb. That's a big company so they care more about reputation than a couple hundred (if even) lost to send you a new pair. Since it came from overseas, you probably have more influence to be able to get a replacement/refund without returning the ones you got versus if you bought them from somewhere in the US.

Seriously though, idc if it's a $5 children's book. Damaged goods is damaged goods and not what was paid for. Your payment is your contract and that was broken. You deserve a solution promptly.

Edit, they certainly should have packed them better. That looks like an empty box with skis rustling around inside.

Thanks all for the opinions on what I should do with the skis. I appreciate it. I think those that said to not worry about it and just rip the fuck out of them are right, nothing damage wise from doing just that. But I also appreciate the sentiment that others have offered that when you buy new shit, it should come the way it is supposed to. I reached out the the company and sent them the pictures. They have offered a couple of options. Looks like we are going to reach out to the shipping company and see what they will do before deciding on a final course.
