Ive been to fance a few times and seen like a million bourdain type cooking shows like about the “magical” cooking of france.
But really i have yet to find anything brilliant that was trademarked from france. Maybe french fries? Poutine? That seems to be about it. Italy for example is the birthplace of pizza and many pastas, spain has prosciutto, mexico has alot of authentic foods, and germany has many types of bratwurst, sausages, and a long tradition of great beer.
The pattern i continually see on cooking shows about france seem to be about doing the most extravagant and fabulous looking plates of food as if effort and hard work could be a substitute for having actual culinary talent and a taste for whats good. This dish below is this humongous royal platter that could probably feed 50 people, but this one french restaurant made this stupidly oversized entree just for anthony bourdain and his tv cameras.
im hoping one of you quebec boys will enlighten me about french cousine, because as far as i can tell its just monumental fucking facade of bullshit.
