What spraypaint to buy

So im trying to paint my poles, got em all sanded down ready to go, but im honestly not sure what paint to get. I dont wanna buy and get the wrong stuff then have to buy again so I figure someone on here has done this and might have knowledge on what paint to get.

Are they bare aluminum or just roughed up?

prime them with a self etch primer. that will bite into the aluminum and promote good adhesion. then use an automotive enamel paint (find both at auto zone or harbor fright), it will cure hard and resist chipping and scratching.

This right here. I asked if it was bare metal to see if you could get away without using a primer coat but you'll definitely want to hit those with primer and a few coats of paint. Automotive is a good idea, but rustoleum from home depot would work as well.

Yeah I ended up getting some rust oleum paint and it said no primer was needed so hopefully I can get away with it. I was at the store and wanted to get started so just got that. I’ll post a few pictures in a few days when they done

worst comes to worst you just hit em with a new coat every few days to keep ‘em fresh. i bet a can lasts forever with that small of a surface area

Moltow makes some dope spray paint. Great colors, and sprays a really full bodied spray. Might wanna clear coat over it tho idk if it’ll chip

First photo is original minus the yellow on the grip I added that. But I carved the grips out, painted them, clear coated them. Sanded the poles, painted black, then taped and painted purple and then clear coated them. Also cut em down from 125 to 110






So yeah, i dont know how long the paint will last but it was fun and looks cool

I came here after reading the thread topic and just wanted to say I only huff high voc paints, but then saw your poles, that’s really nice man 👏 might have to do the same with some powder coat … were always thinking about coloring our skis or boots… but poles look real good like that well done
