MiIfHunterNobody gives a fuck about ur small shit town
AndrewGravesSVIts locked behind a paywall/ subscribers only for me but I can only imagine that its fair cuz the liberal leftist antifa colleges radicalize kids smh. We need to really instill those traditional values early or else our children could end up partial to BLM the horror
skiermanThis is happening across the country. Far-right Republicans are using the imaginary threat of CRT in public schools to gain access to school boards and are now implementing "pledges" to force compliance, restrict educational material under the threat of legal action to the extent of banning books and threatening teachers.
skiermanBruh, these are grade schools, not colleges. Even Ben Shapiro agrees colleges can teach whatever the fuck they want.

Monsieur_PatateAmericans and their pledges lmao
Btw this reminds me, and I didn't go to school in the US so idk, but is it true that kids have to recite the pledge of allegiance every day before class?
r00kieMy school did. Not all the classrooms had flags though so they would broadcast a digital flag and recording into each classroom. Whole thing was super wack but I guess it was state law or something. Forced patriotism is fricken weird.

People oppose CRT because they don't understand it and it makes them uncomfortable. With CRT you have to confront the reality that white european men structured society for their own benefit, systematically oppressed everyone else around them, and a lot of those systems stay in place. Thats a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people especially when they take it as a personal attack. Parents want their children to stay pure and live in a world where the pilgrims and native americans got along at Thanksgiving and bullshit. At some point we need to teach them about the reality because non white kids learn pretty early on that they're different due to racial incidents.
Kids brains are plastic and can absorb and accept a lot, thats why there's this push to just teach propaganda. The pledge in question is below, if you can't see the issues with requiring a "patriotic" curriculum is dangerous then idk what to tell you.

MoneyMakerMikeI’m genuinely curious. How is their systematic oppression in current America? It seems many colleges and corporate companies seek diversity so it’s actually less competitive to be a minority trying to progress in our current climate

brotoBro there are people going to college and competing in the job market today whose grandparents were legally not allowed into the same schools as whites or were not educated at all. You learn almost everything from your parents and when their education is severely underfunded that disadvantage is passed down through generations. Also consider redlining, destruction of minority families through discriminatory policing, the way schools are funded disproportionately through property taxes, etc.
I know you don't actually care or want a legitimate answer but yea
MoneyMakerMikeWhy you mad? I was asking an actual question

_IRRELEVANT_The link at the bottom describes things that should be happening in school what’s the big deal to be patriotic
Piss_BoyI'm fully aware of how ignorant I am in saying this but why does politics get involved with education. I feel like a "patriotic education" sounds retarded. Are they just gonna paint the Americans in a good light in history class? Didn't read the whole article but sounds like a load shit
skiermanWell to summarize, a bunch of angry, ignorant white people blindly believed what Fox News and Trump were telling them about what their kids were learning and instead of taking the time to understand, they're now implementing a literal white washing of U.S. history, indoctrinating their kids on populist, anti-immigrant propaganda.
Ya know, no big deal. Just the same shit the Nazi's did before they destroyed democracy and set up death camps for anyone who opposed their views.
WoFlowzLol not commenting on the right vs left part of this. But does every school not already say a pledge of allegiance every morning? It’s super stupid IMO there’s only like two other countries that do and it’s North Korea and Singapore. Weirdest shit ever half the time kids don’t even get up or say anything a teachers keep on teaching.
SuspiciousFish"Imaginary threat of CRT"
Then you have stuff like this...
skiermanYou're a stupid fucking kid with the attention span of a gnat so I don't blame you for not taking the time to differentiate between the two.
skeirman.
In fact, the US is the only country I know of that has a whole culture devoted to hating itself, and whose society is so completely fractured and confused about its own identity. The US is for sure the only place I've been where half of the majority ethnicity is literally ashamed of its own current iteration to the point it is destroying the very things that even give it a voice. It's absolutely fucking wild, and I would guess it is the first time in the history of the planet that something like this has taken place.

TOAST.Is it a culture of hating itself or one that is seeking to improve itself by reflecting on the past?

Dustin.I understand that you are mentally disabled, but I'll ask you to define what part of this is "Far Right" anyway:
Restoring "honest, patriotic education" that cultivates in children "a profound love for our country."
Promoting a curriculum that teaches that "all children are created equal, have equal moral value under God, our Constitution and the law, and are members of a national community united by our founding principles."
Prohibiting curriculum that "pits students against one another" on the basis of race or sex.
Preventing schools from "politicizing education" by prohibiting curriculum that requires students to protest or lobby during or after school.
Wow, let's all grab the pitchforks. "Imaginary threat of CRT", "Force compliance", ya...can't cite a single real example of those things happening in regards to "Far Left". Give me a break, both extremes of our political system are actively going fucking crazy right now and actually doing the things you say they are not. This is not an extreme example at all though, this is what normal used to be before we all decided to give an incredibly small philosophical minority a large percentage of cultural and political influence. If the majority actually got their way, instead of the two extreme ends, we'd enjoy normal again and everyone could chill the fuck out.
In b4 you say some uneducated bullshit you saw on TV while hilariously referencing "fOx nEWs tRumP rAciSkismist" again, use evidence this time instead.

AndrewGravesSVThe parts that signal this is some right wing shit is the "honest, patriotic education", the equal moral value under God, and the emphasis on the constitution. The under God part excludes other belief systems and reeks of the Evangelical influence in modern far right. Separation of church and state be damned. Honest and patriotic education while looking at history is at its core nationalistic propaganda; the whole goal is to instill a profound love for our country right?
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/colorado-students-protest-proposed-curriculum-changes
"She says she’s not trying to eliminate the facts of U.S. history but shares the concerns conservatives nationally have outlined – that A.P. History casts some parts of history in a negative light, such as the bombing of Hiroshima and places too much emphasis on slavery and women’s rights."
Imagine being upset that some kids think it was fucked up that the US wiped two cities off the map or that women and brown people didn't have the right to vote for the majority of the country's history. In essence, it feels like people are mad that kids who think critically can come to the conclusion that the US isn't the best country on Earth, and they're worried that those kids will try and make change. I think public education should produce critical thinkers and that it has failed at that for a while. We see more and more students protesting and taking action because they get historical information/ alternative perspectives through twitter or tik tok or whatever. I'd much rather our curriculum paint an honest view of America's wrongs rather than rely on randos on twitter with their own biases. I don't think that its extreme at all to say that race is a central theme in America's history and its naive to think that it hasn't shaped our society today.
TLDR
Its important to get as many perspectives you can along with an honest and accurate view of history to inform your beliefs. Censoring other perspectives means that the main goal is to keep the order and current systems in place. In other words, this stupid pledge is trying to CONSERVE the system we already have, and to make sure kids don't question it.
