Buying new skis

BigSuiBeen looking at the 2021 Line Chronics, Line blend, and Arv 96’s for my new pair but I can’t decide on one. I’ll be doing more jumps this year but also going to ride the rest of the mountain too. Any help is appreciated!

Blends most fun. 96s most practical. What ski are you coming from and did you like them?

I haven’t gotten skis since 2014 man, some Solomon threats lol. I’m in need of a new pair! What do you think of the Chronics?

I've been riding Blends since 2016. My buddy has Chronics. To be frank, the blends are straight noodles. Great for butters and jibs and stuff but iffy on bigger jumps. Guys definitely send it on blends, but in general, they're less stable at speed and not as solid feeling landing big jumps because they're more prone to washing out if you don't land perfectly centered. On the other hand, they feel a little more forgiving at slower-medium speeds. I've been perfectly happy hitting M/L jumps on Nitro at Carinthia/Mt Snow, and they're a blast in spring slush. If you're getting into jumps, I'm guessing you won't be hitting XL features so honestly Blends could be right for you. All three of your pics are solid tho, and I'm sure you'll have a blast on any of them!

What length would you recommend for the blend/Chronics/ARV 96’s for a 5’9 160lbs build who will be hitting those jumps but also skiing the rest of the mountain?

I'm just shy of 5'10" and ski the 178 blends, 2016 model. I am not sure if they have had any redesigns but it skis a little shorter than the labeled length if that makes sense. Because of the early tip/tail rise, it shortens the usable edge so I think the extra length is useful for a little extra stability. If you wanted to do rails/butters only, then I'd go shorter but for jumps/all mtn cruising, a shorter ski could get a little squirrely. I can't speak for chronic/arv, but if they're full camber, its be a little tougher decision to make.

Chronics or ARV96. What makes the chronic so fun in the park doesn’t necessarily translate to durability though

I couldn’t tell you unfortunately. I had a pair of chronics for a season in like 2013 or something and they were built totally different back then. Only have input on the ARVs + Blends. Really can’t go wrong here if you’re not throwing dub corks you’ll have fun on either one. I know lots of people like longer skis but I’d personally tell you to go under 180 if you’re still a newer skier. 🍻 the more I think about it too I don’t think you can go wrong on any of the three, all these companies put out quality products anymore.

Yeah dawg you’ll be good on those two. If you want something you can really throw around just grab some ARV 86s
