Also alcohol tolerance and opiate tolerance are strongly correlated. Its not 1 to 1, but ill put it this way.

The saddest thing is that due to a few million anti drug people in america who God wishes would kill themselves, we dont stop these deaths from occuring, even though with heroin assisted treatment, opium cigs sold to adults in 7-11, and ppl being able to buy pharmacy grade drugs of standardized and known purity, we could stop all these deaths from occuring. The fluctuations on the street are what is killing everybody. If you got the system to the point that addicts could get the same purity drugs every time, overdose deaths would plummet.

but in an ideal world there would be no war on drugs. And with no war on drugs a pack of opium cigarettes at 7-11 would cost 5 bucks. Nobody is going to have to prosititute themselves to be able to afford a 5 dollar pack of opium cigs. Opiates are a story of sadness for most people because they burn through their 500k trust fund in 6 months and then they start prostituting themselves and then they either overdose or they go thru wd and kill themselves.

Yeah it sucks i have lost alot of friends too. Its like you wake up one day and the person is just gone. No warning, no goodbye, just gone. I tried to convince some of them to get on methadone but they were reluctant. Im pretty sure they would still be here if they had gotten on it which sucks to think about.
As far out as it sounds i think in 5 or 10 yrs we are going to have heroin assisted treatment in the us just like they have in europe and canada. That would catch all the people who methadone doesnt help and keep them alive.
I feel like this drug war is only continuing to be fought because it would be a hard pill to swallow to realize we were going completely the wrong direction for 50 fucking years. Kind of like if you drove on the wrong road for such a long time, you would rather take another road to get back to the road youre supposed to be on than to completely stop and reverse direction and backtrack to where you started.

im not trying to downplay their severity. Its just my experience that when a kid hears that every single facet of opiate use is “pain and misery” but then they see or hear about so many people using them, they get curious as to why all of these people would try opiates when they heard the same thing—that it was nothing but “pain and misery” and that discord will more than anything make them want to try out opiates and see for themselves what the truth is about them, and what is bullshit propaganda. Its like the DEA commercial they used to run where this government shiteater says all matter-of-factly that buying drugs supports terrorists and terrorism and that by using drugs they are causing the deaths of innocent people blah blah blah… those government pieces of shit are so fucking stupid they dont even realize their uber-righteous commercial is only going to make more people use drugs just to spite their asshole “youre funding terrorism” government commercial.
I agree that in a society where opiates are expensive, you want to get as few people as possible using them because emptying your bank account to buy drugs is not a good thing for your quality of life, among other things.
But assuming a drug costs next to nothing (like all drugs should), and the drug is not overwhelmingly bad for your health, and it can be used safely, then the best option to employ is to try to keep as many people alive and healthy as possible. And playing psychological keep away with kids and telling them a drug is all just endless pain and misery is going to make them more curious about it, especially if they are going through a self destructive phase in their adolescence, as many teenagers do, and they are searching for a vehicle to cry out for help from their parents/friends etc…
idk. A good example i would point to is that in america, once 16 yr olds get their drivers license they immediately start driving to parties and drinking. And because of the keepaway that america plays, you see alot of kids binge drinking and totaling their cars and shit. Every kid wants to get wasted precisely because they are told they are not allowed to. In most of europe on the other hand, parents often mix beer with sprite and let their kids have a stable and responsible introduction to alcohol. And then by age 14 in most european countries kids can buy beer from stores. And because it is above the table it and socially acceptable it is more under control and less stigmatized. Also because they dont play keepaway with kids in europe, you dont see the bloodlust for getting fucked up that you tend to see more often in kids in america. When i first went to europe as a 14 yr old i asked some kids my age what it was like being able to buy beer legally and they said it was just normal and that nobody really cared about alcohol that much. They did drink, dont get me wrong, but they were more likely to have a beer with their meal, and maybe have a couple beers before going dancing at a nightclub, which were incredibly popular all over europe and open to teenagers unlike in america.
You see the repercussions of the puritanical keepaway practice alot in some of the utah kids montages where many mormon teenagers seem to lose the fucking plot and go nuts when it comes to rebelling against their parental restraints and puritanical traditions by acting like they are out of control.
Unintended consequences are quite a bitch. Its become very clear to me over the years that the more you stigmatize something, the more you make kids curious about it and itching to try it.
The best thing you can do is tell the truth and not lie to kids. Kids are not stupid. yeah. I think it would be a good direction for america to move in to sort of look the other way when it comes to teens drinking beer and smoking weed. Its a pretty cozy state of affairs to have weed and beer as the only drugs you are using.
Also wrt europe, by the time teenagers can drive (18 in germany) they have already been drinking for a few years and they have by then become reasonable and responsible about it. Its not like the perfect storm we have in america where kids start drinking and driving at exactly the same time, age 16, and they dont even know what the fuck is going on, let alone how to be responsible. Kind of makes you think the puritans that write our laws are a bunch of fucking monkeys. Anyways.

Its just my experience that when a kid hears that every single facet of opiate use is “pain and misery” but then they see or hear about so many people using them, they get curious as to why all of these people would try opiates when they heard the same thing—that it was nothing but “pain and misery” and that discord will more than anything make them want to try out opiates and see for themselves what the truth is about them, and what is bullshit propaganda. Its like the DEA commercial they used to run where this government shiteater says all matter-of-factly that buying drugs supports terrorists and terrorism and that by using drugs they are causing the deaths of innocent people blah blah blah… those government pieces of shit are so fucking stupid they dont even realize their uber-righteous commercial is only going to make more people use drugs just to spite their asshole “youre funding terrorism” government commercial.
I agree that in a society where opiates are expensive, you want to get as few people as possible using them because emptying your bank account to buy drugs is not a good thing for your quality of life, among other things.
But assuming a drug costs next to nothing (like all drugs should), and the drug is not overwhelmingly bad for your health, and it can be used safely, then the best option to employ is to try to keep as many people alive and healthy as possible. And playing psychological keep away with kids and telling them a drug is all just endless pain and misery is going to make them more curious about it, especially if they are going through a self destructive phase in their adolescence, as many teenagers do, and they are searching for a vehicle to cry out for help from their parents/friends etc…
idk. A good example i would point to is that in america, once 16 yr olds get their drivers license they immediately start driving to parties and drinking. And because of the keepaway that america plays, you see alot of kids binge drinking and totaling their cars and shit. Every kid wants to get wasted precisely because they are told they are not allowed to. In most of europe on the other hand, parents often mix beer with sprite and let their kids have a stable and responsible introduction to alcohol. And then by age 14 in most european countries kids can buy beer from stores. And because it is above the table it and socially acceptable it is more under control and less stigmatized. Also because they dont play keepaway with kids in europe, you dont see the bloodlust for getting fucked up that you tend to see more often in kids in america. When i first went to europe as a 14 yr old i asked some kids my age what it was like being able to buy beer legally and they said it was just normal and that nobody really cared about alcohol that much. They did drink, dont get me wrong, but they were more likely to have a beer with their meal, and maybe have a couple beers before going dancing at a nightclub, which were incredibly popular all over europe and open to teenagers unlike in america.
You see the repercussions of the puritanical keepaway practice alot in some of the utah kids montages where many mormon teenagers seem to lose the fucking plot and go nuts when it comes to rebelling against their parental restraints and puritanical traditions by acting like they are out of control.
Unintended consequences are quite a bitch. Its become very clear to me over the years that the more you stigmatize something, the more you make kids curious about it and itching to try it.

Honestly I think this actually really well said and appreciate that side while I don't wanna encourage drug use of that type I think your perspective on this is important. I also believe in safe experimenting to an extent but I really think it depends where you are at mentally and I think your perspective sheds alot of light on the stigma around drugs.

its clear the government does not want to save the lives tho. If we did we would have an executive order tmrw to set up H.A.T. clinics like they have in europe and we could drop our overdose rate by 99%.

Yeah i feel like if you really want to get a kid to not do something you gotta tell them everything about it and let them reach the same conclusion.
like shit like bath salts and krokodil are things that are truly horrible. If i had teenage kids i would want to make sure they never touched that garbage. But i think the best way to make sure they stay away from that shit would be to tell the story about the guy who took bath salts and ate the homeless mans face in florida. And i would show them the vids of ppls limbs rotting off because they injected that krokodil shit.
i think steering kids towards a less harmful substance like beer and weed is easier than being a parental control freak and telling them you dont want them doing anything.
Apparently alot of adolescents go through periods of being almost crazy and doing alot of wild and risk taking behaviors.
So considering it is very hard to keep a 16 yr old kid from finding out the truthful info they want to find out about something from the internet, the best thing i would tell my kids would be to let them know how much i loved them and how much it would destroy me if anything happened to them.
because say you do the hardliner thing and tell your kid you will beat the shit out of them if you find out the did opiates or heroin. that might work, but it also might make them more likely to do it because they were spiteful about your ultimatums and in that state they would probably be more likely to be reckless about it and take too much or something.
So with the idea of keeping your enemies close i think the best thing you could do is cover the most bases you can, so that even if they do experiment in hs or college they will not be reckless about it and they will do their homework so to speak and have in their heads that they loved their parents and wouldnt want them to get the nightmare of all nightmares phone call that so many parents are getting these days.
but again i think we need to do as soon as fucking possible what switzerland and europe started doing in 1996 and get the use of these drugs under the supervision of doctors and health professionals.
There is kind of like this view in america that these drugs are not only bad, but they are evil. And i dont think this viewpoint is the way to save lives. You gotta manage these forces of nature, instead of trying to murder and destroy them. Its like there is this grudge match being waged on the drug world in america and a H.A.T. clinic would be spitting on the graves of all the people who overdosed on heroin or fentanyl.
This scene from no country for old men kind of highlights the idea im talking about. The wheelchair guy says if you try to right or reverse the wrong that has been done you are gonna just end up losing more shit out the door while you are seeking revenge. And you gotta just say stop and put a tourniquet on it, which to me seems like he was saying you gotta give up the grudge and be pragmatic about stopping the bleeding and reducing the comprehensive harm being done as best you can.
