I have not been on here long but I feel like there are a few issues with this site and the people on here. First I don't know why these washed-up boomers are out to make every thread so toxic. Eheath, we give zero fucks how long u have been on the site, lose weight, and learn to spin over a 5. You are the people ruining the site, and making new members afraid to post. No one is welcoming on NS and it is really sad. Second, NS is not being advertised to the youth of skiing. And of course, the boomers prolly don't want young and naive skiers on this site, but the truth is they are the future of skiing and hopefully the future of NS. I think that if we all were on here to truly enjoy skiing, and help each other out we would have a lot better time on NS. Also, that thread about butters and them being an accessible form of skiing was whack as fuck.
You literally made a thread to shit talk some random youtuber because you thought he was cringe? Followed by calling eheath fat? Like yeah I'm guilty of making toxic threads too, we all do it though, even the nicest people on here have made shitty threads before, that's the beauty of having the freedom to share your thoughts without totalitarian mods deleting every controversial thread in sight.
But don't come in here and blame eheath for making NS toxic and in the next sentence cyberbully him for his weight.
in all seriousness the toxicity is a precipitation of a culture that allows it to exist and permeate and excuses are made for the toxicity for years and years rather than anyone doing anything about it which maintains the gatekeepy nature of the toxicity and keeps this site's demographics skewed so heavily in the rich white boy realm of the spectrum. my no-nuance-November take is this: like a fish doesn't know what water is, privileged skiers just get used to toxicity and overt displays of privilege and don't take seriously any acknowledgements or critiques of the existence of either.
SofaKingSickeh drop the eheath blaming, he can be a stubborn dick but he cares deeply about skiing, knows a ton about it, and has done a lot for NS and for NS skiing in general

I remember NS being way way more toxic. There was a member named JD may and he would just destroy you with intelligence. Crushed my soul. Or the legend Lateralus. My fuck did that guy get raw.
It was so brutal and mods were very lax. It should be a fun place for freedom of expression. And maybe skiing itself has big issue. Ego and ability are definitely bedfellows. And humans love to be cliquey.
For me. I don't bother. If a bunch of kids wanna be gangster about skiing go for it. They don't scare me. If you want to be super richboy about it. Flaunt it. You want to be dirt bag. Fuck. Go for it (just don't litter guys)

I promise I'm not as whiny as that thread made it seem, I'm just super passionate about that stuff and people were misinterpreting and roasting me for it so I was just spam replying and instead of helping it made it worse and then obviously i lost my temper. But that's life, we can't agree on everything, but we all ski, and in the end that's all that really matters. I agree. Yeah we get heated on stuff and have exchanges on some threads but that is what makes you grow and learn about life. You have to have an opinion and defend it or the site becomes a bullshit echo chamber. At the end of the day we are all a bunch of different people from different parts of the world a with different world views etc but we all like to ski and bullshit about skiing so that is why we are here.
To those that legit think NS is a toxic place- Guess what? When you are an adult the world doesnt pull any punches and you are going to face a lot more toxic bullshit in your job etc that some shit posts on a ski forum.

People have always shared wack, hater opinions on here. That's not new, like at all. That's honestly what this website is for.
What's new is people not accepting that some people just think differently then they do. People have gotten so used to internet echo chambers that whenever the encounter somebody with different opinions than them, they have to freak out and call it "toxic"
