Why does everyone hate Vail? I don’t get it. They’re minimizing parks for more bunny hills which is so awesome for skiing. More areas to learn and less space for degenerates to smoke pot and injure themselves.

Vail is pushing skiing in the right direction by eliminating parks.


Also, every mountain should adapt mountain safety patrollers like Vail mountains. It’s ridiculous when I’m trying to enjoy my day and then an idiot comes flying by me at 50 mph. This needs to be enforced at EVERY mountain in a stringent manner.

I love Vail Resorts and everything they’re doing for the real ski community.

Wym? There’s nothing funny about this. Park skiing is so fucking dumb. Imagine not being able to actually ski the mountain itself so you have to build stupid ass jumps and “grind” rails to convince yourself that your good at skiing. Couldn’t be me.

Yes, I even bring my Epic Pass (on my custom lanyard) to every single one. Everyone I meet wants to know how much vert I rip up on the slopes and how fucking sweet I am.

OP has a point. There are certain mountains in which the park structure doesn’t work well with the lifts, and park visitors do make the skiing experience worse for others. It’s a little gate-keepy, but there’s a reason deer valley is so popular. Park city and keystone do a really good job of park placement, but not all mountains are lucky enough to share the efficiency.

vail sucks. Like MAJOR ass. But if the whole meta-skiing community does nothing but shit on their every move, it will only get worse, because why should they care? They have made good moves in the last five years, but WAY more shitty moves to chase paper for a bunch of New Yorkers who don’t even ski. Don’t want them to ruin what you value? Just don’t give them the cash to do so. The big problem is that Vail and Alterra don’t have many comparables, so the profitability demanded by analysts is kind of vague. We would all love for it to be a low-margin high-wage high-sustainability industry, but it’s not going to be unless the public agrees to force them to.

Wow that’s spot on. My mom just bought me a new Arc’Teryx kit and me and all my friends are gonna rip up Big Sky!! It kinda sucks tho that there isn’t any skiing closer to Bozeman:/ 2 hrs roundtrip is gonna be a pain.

It’s not nearly corporate enough for my liking.

1. The fact they host this so called “Woodward” shit is disgusting. Just breeding acrobats, not real skiers.

2. Too much weed at Ikon resorts. When I’m sitting on the chair, I like to breath in fresh air. Not bottom shelf skunk smoke from the hippie who lives in his Subaru and spent his life savings on Vishnus and Pivot 15s.

3. The resorts aren’t expensive enough. When I roll into the mountain, I expect and want to pay $250 for my day pass. They don’t milk the Texans enough.

3. Steamboat is the most expensive day ticket in the US at $269. Most expensive vail resort is vail / beaver creek at $239.

I went to MSU for my freshman year and this is surprisingly accurate.

Idk I just think Alterra is pretty much just as bad as Vail :)

This is my first year with an Epic pass, other years I went independent (Boreal, S@T)

At the end of the day I'm not gonna say no to skiing at kirkwood just cus it's got a shitty umbrella corporation who runs things. And especially not going to prefer one shitty umbrella company over another.
