Is shinbang on stiff boots / full tilts preventing it a myth?
why wouldn’t you want a stiffer more responsive boot in the park?
You want the boot's flex to match the forces you put into the boot. That means boot flex matches your weight, height, strength, ability to flex a boot, ankle range of motion, and the literal forces that you put into the ski and come through the ski to you. That might mean 100 flex for some people, and 130 for others. For a guy your size, you are for sure going to need something in the 110-130 range (most likely closer to 120/130), depending on the brand.
Park doesn't mean soft. All mountain doesn't mean stiff. You need to match the boot to you and what you are doing to it.
This is one of my favorite "park" shots of all time - Nicky Keefer at Nine Knights in a Redster World Cup 130
This doesn't mean that everyone should ski super stiff boots, but you can imagine the forces that Nicky puts into a boot that necessitate a World Cup 130 and also being comfortable in such a boot. If he was using a soft, "park" boot then it wouldn't give him the support he required.
