Apparently the size of ppls eyes (pupil diameter) is correlated with intelligence.

its interesting because ive always felt that certain people with large irises and pupils looked more animated and smart. I guess i could share a couple pics of people who have large eyes that sort of convey intelligence.

obviously its just a correlation and not a 1/1 phenomenon but its still pretty interesting.

Dolan, did you read the article? It literally hypothesizes that it's because of norepinephrine release which causes pupil dilation. Norepinephrine is important for cognitive function. This might be too much for you to understand. It's literally like taking a stimulant...the stimulant causes release and inhibits reuptake of various catecholamines, one of which is norepinephrine. Your pupils dilate on stimulants. Your cognition notably increases. The pupils are only a marker as a result of chemicals in your brain/body.

So the Tldr is basically smart people have more endogenous norepinephrine floating around that improves their cognition and also gives rise to slightly more dilated pupils. Yayyyy another worthless study benefitting nobody.

Youre not wrong about that. In bright light your pupil constricts to let less of the bright light through. And in darkness the pupil expands to let more light through.

the study was looking at baseline pupil size which is basically the avg size of the pupils, and it concluded there was a correlation with iq.

But to be fair, there are probably ppl with large pupils who are very dumb and ppl with tiny pupils who are smart.

Ya, I’m still young and go to a classical school, which I have mixed feelings for but that’s not the point. We learned that people in the ancient times who had big eyes were wise. There is a picture of Alexander the Great with some massive eyes like huge. Athena the goddess is known for here wide eyes. And more those are the most commonly talked about ones but ya
