Snowboarding

Just curious how many people on here snowboard too. I’ve been doing it for about two season but really only do it around the Midwest. When I go out west I usually only ski because I’m a lot better at it and I look to do a little more technical stuff. I just want to know how many other people board as well and their experiences with it

Snowboarded for about 4 seasons back in the 90's, twin tip skis brought me back to skiing. Have boarded a few times since teaching a few others but I just ski now.

I try to do like a 60/40 split each season. Sometimes I'm more stoked on skiing and I do more of that. Sometimes it's more boarding

I love snowboarding early season while runs are garbage, no decent park, and no big pow and just carving. But I broke my arm snowboarding the first time when i was a kid so i’ve always been afraid to do much park on a board because if you can break your arm just sitting down/catching an edge, imagine what can happen if you catch an edge/land on your arm off a big jump

I got super into skating this summer and I’m tempted to borrow a buddy’s board to see if there’s a correlation (I was ass the last time I tried)

I sometimes board when I can barrow or trade for one. It helps me from getting bored when shredding with friends who haven’t been up much and don’t have the skills to keep up

How difficult is snowboarding? I think it would be fun as fuck to screw around on these little midwest hills. Having now experience would make them feel like a mountain lol

Think I'd be able to just pick up a snowboard and wing it?

I'm curious about this too. Does your skiing skills transfer over? I haven't been on a skateboard much so I can't rely on that.
I've tried once as a kid at the sledding hill on a super cheap board with the bindings that you just strap in your regular snowboots into. But not having any instruction/guidance I had no idea what I was doing. I of course fell alot and hated having my feet feel "trapped" It hurt my knees so I quit.
I jumped on a trampoline with the tramp boards before and that was kinda fun...

My big thing was that I like longboarding and surfing so the motions transfer over pretty similarly. If it hurts your knees then the board definitely wasn’t set up right for you. I definitely know what you mean by feeling like your feet are trapped, I fell on my face a couple of times because of that.

I snowboard, but 90% of the time I have it on it's to teach lessons. I do love boarding in powder though.
