What Clothing Brand Should I Support?

tri_photoI bought Saga gear for years. I loved the pricing and the options they had. I know the past 2 years were a bad look for them, but I had nothing but good experiences with them for a long time. However, with their current limbo status, I'm guessing it's time I move on.

I need a new coat and pants. Haven't bought new gear in 3 years. I really like using features like Afterpay or Sezzle, since they help my wife and I's budget (plus my wife doesn't get as upset when it's split up and not a one time gouge to our checking account LOL)

Any recommendations out there?

animatorI’m in the same boat as you, bought Saga from the time I was ~12 years old up until last year. I usually have 2 or 3 different outfits so I’ve owned stuff from most of the typical brands out there. IMO Flylow is some of the best bang for your buck out there, as is Trew. Obviously Patagonia TNF Norrona are all nice stuff but they’re stupid expensive most of the time. Oakley is also making some sick stuff this year which I personally love to see.

GrandThingsWornwear.com is Patagonia's official second-hand site and usually has some pretty great deals. Haven't bought any outerwear from it but all the vest/shirts/clothes I've bought through the site have been basically new condition.

weastcoatNot sure if you’re super into the park/street niche of skiing but Arsenic Anywhere is a great company to support if you like dank hoodies/windbreakers to ski in and sick hats.


Dan, who runs it, is a great dude and arguably the biggest philanthropist in skiing. Can’t think of someone who cares more about the community than that guy.


The money he makes from Arsenic gets re-invested back into the community through street skiing funding, he will give crews money for going out and making street videos and such. That’s what’s up.


Also this is another reason why I like Vishnu… a lot of the money is re-Invested back into the riders. Big name guys like Child Labor and even smaller name guys like Max Siudak aka yung snow.

GrandThingsExcept they dont? I've only ever had a hoodie from back when they were First Drop and that shit was garbage. There have also been tons of reports on here of the seams frequently rip out of the pants and the waterproofing on jackets not standing up after a good amount of time.

Occasionally people find a piece from them that holds up, but compared to the other companies in their price rage like an Oneill or Saga, hell even Montec at this point - Virtika just doesn't compare. I think do think it's unfair to compare them to an actual technical outerwear company like a patagonia or flylow.

r00kieOrdered an Oakley jacket yesterday. Gotta say, their online size guide is easily the most helpful one I've ever used. Enter height and weight, shoulder and belly shape, fit preference, and it gives you a size that their returns data determines us the one that you'll be the least likely to return. Ingenious tool.

cypherswent with 686 bibs this year. wouldn't normally throw $ at a primarily snowboard brand but since they are starting to hook up guys like p white and duncan adams i figured i'd try them out

early impressions - they fit great and the material seems suuuper tough. waterproofing has yet to be tested but i'm optimistic about them
