Next Ski - BC 100, QST 98, or Origin 101

Get the pivots, they will last forever and once u want to get into touring, just upgrade to cast for bassicly the same price as shifts

That's where I'm leaning, just not sure on which of the skis from the title I want to go with.

I don't trust shifts at all for a few reasons, durability and the settings for the release need to be very specific. Particularly on the east coast where you're going to be trying to make some turns on bumpy icy conditions I really wouldn't.

If you want something a bit more playful yet still stable, I'd take a look at some of these:
Volkl revolt 104
Jskis masterblaster
ON3P Jeffrey 96
Candide 2.0
K2 Reckoner 102-definitely more playful but still able to be somewhat stable

I'd love to try something new like that, however I can get pretty good discounts on many brands - that isn't one of them :) I guess adding the M-Free 99 to the list would be okay as well. I've demo'd the revolts and they were not enjoyable with the hard pack we have. Never tried anything from faction, and the reckoner I demo'd just felt off. Unsure what is was with the reckoner, but I just couldn't like it - I feel the same way with many K2 skis.

OP, check out the Mirus Cor from Black Crows. I know it's slightly narrower than the skis you listed but it should be fine for most conditions on the east coast.

People might have a difficult time understanding what you're looking for as you don't like two of the most universally well regarded skis in the segment, the Reckoner 102 and Revolt 104. What other skis have you used and what have you liked or disliked about them.

I have the Declivity 92ti already for my daily groomer ski. Not really sure another narrow ski would be what I would add at this point, outside of a full race ski. Honestly I was hoping to get opinions on the BC100, QST98, and Origin 101 from anyone who may have had a chance to try them at any point - added the M-Free 99. I've been on mindbenders and reckoners, and dislike the feeling of tail. I didn't try to really pin it down to a flex/release out of turn/material analysis because I just took them back to the shop after a couple runs. Both were setup with Warden 13s. I tried the Origin last year, and it felt a bit soft to me, but with the new materials I was hoping to try it out.

The issue I have is that multiple local shops won't be demoing many skis this year (supply/demand) so all 3 of these I've been told won't be available for a demo. I'm in a weird spot as I want something more playful, without going to a full freestyle ski. I dislike skis that lack good edge hold, as we have a lot of ice in the AM that doesn't really go away until after lunch - although I guess I can switch up skis in the afternoon as I have multiple pairs.

If you felt they were too soft, maybe something would suit you better like the moment commander? The deathwish is very solid though.
