Look pivots durability

So I’ve heard a lot about the look pivots and one thing that always seems to come up is the breaks breaking, I’ve heard that people break them often but then I’ve also heard people saying they have been skiing on them for 3+ seasons and haven’t broken it or bent the breaks

I ski switch all the time and only really bent one brake bad enough to worry about it over the last 5 seasons of using them religiously. I got accidentally corked trying a 3 and landed on my side so like directly on the brake and it bent. Just had to reshape it though.

I broke some breaks on some SPX12s years ago, but never done it on pivots, or anything else. But I also don't land switch much any more.

I have a bunch of pivots, and maybe 1/3 of them are broken. Usually it's the half moon piece that breaks, which fucks up the whole brake assembly. Saving grace is that you can buy replacement brakes now, but they're expensive compared to other bindings and an absolute pain in the ass to replace. But it's the best skiing and safest binding on the market imo.



My recommendation is to buy type of binding only. That way over time you'll have extras and can swap parts out when shit breaks. Plus having all your bindings mismatched is p core.

I have no clue if they break more than the brakes of other bindings, all I know is that they cost twice as much as any other brake ($95 vs $25-$50). So if it does happen to you it’s a double whammy.
