Too heavy for skiing?

Hello people,
I'm afraid if I'm too heavy for skiing, being 187 cm (6.1 feet) and weighing 95 kg (210 lbs). Is it possible that my skis (Armada ARV 106 2021) could snap more easily under this pressure?

you don't really snap skis unless there's a defect and/or serious damage and/or you get in a serious crash

simply being heavier isn't going to snap your skis. you might overpower your skis a little here and there but i'm assuming you're a beginner/intermediate? really not a big concern for you

Yeah, I havent been skiing for 8 or 9 years now. Im pretty much back to square one. Thanks for the help.

yeah man you're all good, don't sweat it, there are people your size and bigger that absolutely shred

newer arv106s are stiffer than they used to be i think too. you're gonna be just fine

Thank you for assuring me. I always thought sticfer skies are easier to snap since they dont give in as much as softer skies.

you're not gonna snap em unless you turn into an absolute psycho and are going huge or have some crazy bad luck. skis are insane dude, they can take a lot of abuse

i only mentioned ARV106s being stiffer than they used to be because your only realistic concern is overpowering your skis/them not giving you enough backbone and again, that's not really an issue for beginner/intermediates

erase this worry from your mind dude! you're good dog

Nah man, you're good. Coming from a big man myself (not as tall lol) i've never broken a ski, skis break when you land/crash on them awkwardly, you're good for normal shreddin.

@dolanslebensraum 's mom skis and she is much much (extremely) heavier than you so I am sure you will be ok

Last time I weighed myself I was like 190-195 and I’m 5’11, I’ve seen way taller and way heavier people than you ski and be good, you’re good bro!

Don't worry about snapping the skis dude, I'm 6'4 200 and I have not broken a pair of skis by snapping them ever. They're designed to flex and move without snapping ever.

I'm 6'#" and was probably 220 or so last spring still chucking some flips and mellow spins in the jumpline. Being tall and heavier don't make it easier, but you can def get after it. You have some better surface area skiing and riding. Def seems better than skateboarding and stuff as a big dude.

If you wanna ski, get out there. All kinds of people out trying to progress. Don't sweat it, take some laps and go from there!

I wouldn’t worry about it at all. In the last week I’ve probably mounted 8-12 skis for people over 250 pounds, and a handful of people 6’3”+. One guy was like 320 pounds with a 381 boot sole, his boot was so long it wouldn’t even fit on the jig, but we made it work. Pretty sure I actually mounted an ARV 96 for one of those big fella’s, so you definitely have nothing to worry about on an ARV 106.

I snapped my blends on my first season skiing by doing a gap to firecracker on a staircase

Damn, I need to lose some god damn weight. Anyways, I weigh more than you by a bit and am 6'1", and I've skiied on everything from semi-clapped 2012 Rossignol S3's to almost brand new Moments and my skis remain pretty much perfect and I don't find it cumbersome besides the fact I get tired easier than if I was in better shape. I ski some steep stuff, lots of trees, and take a few jumps here or there but I don't consider myself good enough to call myself a freestyle skier. So I'm not sending it off of cliffs and hitting jibs everywhere etc.

My friend whos a total jerry weighs even more than I do and skis on Rossignol Seeks which are light little toothpick jerry skis and they hold up just fine even under his massive jerry weight.

I think you'll be ok.

I’m 155lb and my arvs snapped in the back, pretty gnarly crash. They were the 19-20 model and I believe the newer arv models are stiffer.
