Is Markus Eder the next Pettit?

Stuff like this reminds me off the massive stuff Pettit would just fuckin stomp left and right. I feel like we saw similar stuff Pettit used to do and as big in Markus new edit. The stuff off the glacial cliffs and other tricks over huge rollers reminds me of Pettit. I don’t think he’s got the same style as Pettit but I respect the going huge and I think we need more pow skiers doing that vs the same backy off a cliff 20times in one video. https://www.newschoolers.com/videos/watch/1016212/The-Ultimate-Run

Why would I wanna watch him and Tim durtschi do the same backy or 7 or 3 ever time. If he was doing butters and switch landings on the fwt maybe I’d watch. It’s kinda like pow movies. Most are shitty and the same tricks over and over. Not that they aren’t gnarly it’s just repetitive. Pow skiing and filming needs a change. Coke Richardson’s warm up, ski carnage, burrlapz and Idea are all great pow movies. Can’t stand most other shit.

He's had many ski parts as well, it's not that you need to watch the FWT but clearly you were a bit naive about his past achievement.

Progression in big mountain/pow isn't just about the tricks. It's equally about the lines being skied. I've been seeing people do back 2s out of urban rails for years, but what keeps it interesting is the urban spots keep progressing.

LOL this is a bad take. Pow movies and the FWT are completely different homie. Pow movies are boring because its all so manicured and repetitive (perfect booter into perfect pow and keep filming until the shot is perfect). That is why burrlapz is so cool - its not that. The FWT on the other hand has the best skiers in the world skiing shit they get one shot at in constantly changing (often complete dogshit) conditions. Progression (because of guys like Markus) has been insane in recent years as well.

I was actually thinking ab this earlier, I was a really big fan of Pettit and Eder seems super similar except that hes dominating the FWT and Pettit didnt compete in it..... Theyre both super gnarly for sure

totally off topic, but what is Petit up to these days? Eder is definitely on a whole other level. The ability to land so much 1st try and then do some ridiculous park tricks, and also actually ski is incredible

Landing switch in pow is one of the hardest skills in all of skiing. Youll never understand unless you actually try it. The biggest reason why dudes don’t like watching bc is because they have never rode real pow so they don’t appreciate how much skill it takes.

Super back mounted skis +
Heavy af skis
You have to land perfectly square in pow because if you turn on the landing at all you’ll die

Shits way more intense than it seems. Plus half the time the angles are far as hell so you can’t even tell the pitch of the run

Markus isn't a next anyone, except maybe the the new GOAT... Went to the Olympics for slopestyle, one of the best technical rail skiers out there, ran his own rail jam for the boys (Railzilla), won Freeride World Tour, absolutely insane video parts since at least 2014, solo/crew projects, season edits most seasons... Dude is the epitome of the do it all because he just loves it and loves his job kinda skier.

I was super impressed with how well Wallisch was landing switch in fresh squeezed. Any skiing switch in pow is way harder than it looks, remember Charley Ager?

"If he was doing butters on the FWT" I take it you didn't see Markus's Verbier run in 2018. Also, Blake Marshall did a bio/misty 7 last year, Isaac Freeland did a switch misty 5 at some point. Like, there's a lot of 3's and backy's on the FWT, but Markus is the last person I'd blame that on.
