iFlipI've rented a storage unit (small one). I was suckered in with the low cost. When I signed up in the office I found that in addition to the low cost I'd also HAVE to pay for the mandatory insurance and purchase their "special" lock. These BS fees really annoyed me. Truly a bait and switch tactic. I paid for it for a while and then realized the stuff I was storing wasn't even worth what I was paying for the unit.
Self-storage units are known to be a major money maker and source of passive income. Storage units, laundromats, and car washes are all in this category.
Yeah my storage unit in wa for the summer had the bullshit insurance. I got in good because they offered 3 months for half price or something and i only needed 4 months.
A lot of people rent one and keep it forever get another when they run out of space. Worked for me to get in though.
