Been wanting this for years and just never made it because I'll post garbage photos but I'll make it and post garbage photos.
Can be epic, can be lame. Something from your day.

ReturnToMonkeyOmg that's so hype, how did it go??
safarisamDefinitely weaker in my surgical leg. Like, I forget it’s okay to push with it if that makes sense?
ReturnToMonkeyI feel that for sure. Are you technically cleared to ski yet?

When BD says their skins go to 192 they mean 192 and no more.

Peep the rescape in my south american biotope. i need some lilys for the wide open sandy section, it’s supposed to be a clear water tributary, all tho i’m tempted to add some tanins
SlowbroBuy an arowana
WoFlowzmy local shop has a foot and a half Silver aro. If i get into the zoo program and work with the rays i might see if we can get some arowanas in the same pond, since there is pleco already. Possibly a red tail cat or two but who knows. Also looking at working there during the summer
SlowbroI assumed arowana were stupid expensive because they’re a status symbol in Asia and are pretty big. I’m guessing they’re hard to care for but they are gorgeous fish and pretty interesting biologically because they breath air. Also catfish are cute.
WoFlowzwell, asians are banned in the US because of their cities listing. But they are quite expensive, even a low grade gold or green asian arowana can fetch 2-5k for a small one in canada or the UK. Silvers are 80-300 in the US, Jardini or Saratogas can easily be 300-500 for juveniles. Black arowanas are about the same, platinum can be even more.
The dragon behind glass is a great read if you’re interested in arowana, the culture behind it, and a search for wild asian arowanas
From experience helping out at the shop they’re quite easy to care for. They just have quite larger needs but the same as most fish. A spacious tank, Adequate filtration and oxigination, a tight lid and a nutritious diet. I personally do not beliehe they should be kept in tank, unless it’s truely aquarium/pond sized. The zoo exhibit i think they could be kept in is about 1700 gal or a massive indoor concrete pond both of which plecos and rays are, i think either would be a good fit for a large silver arowana or red tail cat, maybe even a school of large silver dollars. possibly pacu in the pond but idk if it’s deep enough. only about 2-5ft deep
