I'm still of the opinion that walk mows look better if you have enough of a crew. But I do not miss lugging those things around and walking hundreds of miles in the summer. We use triplexes

definitely agree.
we use the big mowers when its wetter or short on ppl

LOLLL no way you think owning a tesla will "save the environment." most the electricity you use to charge it is from fossil fuels. and its the shittest color of green I have ever seen

I literally said the same thing few minutes ago, but the fossil fuel power really depends on the charging station. Here(far away from florida) mostly renewables are used. Don't know any statistics about Florida, probably more fossil fuel used for power than here.
KalmarJalmarWouldn't be so sure about saving the environment part. There are better ways to save the environment than buying a car full of lithium and plastic.
100% sure about it. Driving a Tesla is better for the environment than driving an ice vehicle. Especially while I’m sitting in a parking lot idling wasting gas for a couple hours. Just because there are other things that can also help out doesn’t mean just fuck everything else. Every little bit helps.

My county is one of the largest producers of power by solar. So no it’s not fossil fuels. I’m waiting to have my Tesla power bank and my solar panels installed and at that point 100% of my power will be solar. I don’t use public chargers. Don’t make blanket statements.

As mentioned my county is one of the largest producers of power by solar. Florida is leading the country with solar use. We have plenty of sun. I only charge at night during low usage which mean I’m pulling power from the solar station near me that has power surplus overnight during none peak hours. Once my power bank and panels are installed at the house I’ll be using 100% solar.
not sure why it’s so controversial for me to do something that helps the environment on a ski site. There is no debate driving a Tesla is better for the environment than driving an ice car. That’s just a proven fact.
Maintaining an older car is better for the environment than continuously purchasing newly made vehicles over and over again

Which is why I also have my 2011 sti that I drive on occasion. I wanted to get rid of one ice vehicle for an electric. Which is what I did. Now I have options. I’m not advocating for everyone to sell their old cars for new ones. I wanted an electric. I got one. End of story lol.

I guess it depends how much you drive. Emissions from the production+ other environmental harms which can't be avoided when it comes to money hungry mining is something that is not so easily beaten.
For a lot of people Plug in hybrid or a normal car that you take car of for multiple decades is better than buying an EV. My mom for example drives her new EV for 7km to work and back, her "old" car which was a hybrid was capable of doing this same drive with the small battery it had. She also moralizes other people for using normal cars :D and of course she will buy another one those environmental disasters in a few years. On the flip side of the coin there are people like my dad who drives his tesla over 50000km per year, anything from 2000km drives in arctic conditions to driving to the gym. That is a lot better than his old diesel van. I would say there are more people like my mom than the other.
If you drive more than the amount needed for being greener I will shut the fuck up ,if not I won't.

I gotta say model 3 seats fucking suck.
Emissions from production is a useless stat. You don’t buy a vehicle and let it sit still. You drive it. The second you drive both vehicles the ice vehicle no longer is more environmentally sound. Doesn’t matter if it’s 1 miles or 100 miles. The ev is an always will be more Efficient than the ice. I’m doing around 1000 miles a month on my Tesla. Not only am I creating less emissions I’m costing myself less money every month on gas. I was spending on average $450-600 on gas a month prior. I’m now spending $120-150 ish.
there is no debate. An ice vehicle produces more emissions over the lifetime of us than an EV. That’s just a proven fact. On top of that the longer the life of the vehicle and the more it’s used the pendulum swings even further into the ev’s favor. So keeping that old vehicle running longer over a lifetime will create far more emissions than the ev.
Battery Composition is changing everyday. Less and less precious metals are being used in batteries so the damage from Mining is reducing.

It’s called a conversation. You know. Things people do on forums. Especially in the non ski Gabber.
the only people getting hot and fussy is you fools over what car I’m driving. lol.
take your own advice and go flip out on people over at Reddit because you’re butt hurt over their vehicle choices. Lol

Of course production emissions matter. It should be problem of the factories and mines more than the buyers though. But they don't care if there is not enough pressure. I will always care where the stuff that I buy comes from and how it's made.
As long as the production stays the same I will never say EVs are green in any way, it's just less local pollution for the people who consume them.
It's also a proven fact that gas car(might have been a PHEV) is better for people who drive less Just because of the current EV production. This will probably change, but when it's too late. There are data about the amount of driving needed for to be greener with you EV. (pls don't ask for this data, too lazy to find it :D)
Gas saving is valid, lot of people forget the best thing about them imo, less sound pollution.
I also think AWD EVs are a lot better for normal usage than gas cars in same price range. Especially in the winter. Throw on some studded tires and you are unstoppable. Heavy car with 450hp, You can overtake like a retard in the snow, you can basically drive like a rally driver. Superb traction control, good safety features so it's impossible to end up in a ditch. Battery range hasn't been a problem in arctic conditions either. When the snow melts and ice melts you can overtake like formula driver, even more retarded overtakes.

I think you’re missing the point. The reason production emissions do not matter is because you’re not buying a vehicle to have it just sit and never be driven. If that was the case yes production emissions would be the only issue.
Both ice and ev have production emissions. So that’s a wash. What matters is the emissions from the point of the end user and the total emissions over the lifetime of the vehicle. Not short term. If I got rid of my Tesla tomorrow it wouldn’t just suddenly disappear. It would then go to another buyer who would continue to use it over its entire lifetime.
which is what you were referring too. The crossover point where an ev’s total emissions including production become lower than an ice. That cross over point is very low. And since we are talking long term ownership of any vehicle being it ice or ev in this conversation those lifetime emissions become even more important. You’re more than welcome to google the facts. I did plenty of research before getting the Tesla. My point stands for really any ev’s as well. This isn’t a “Tesla” is the best thing. It isn’t. I want a Porsche taycan. Just not in my budget atm.
lastly your point about the plug in hybrids being better for people who drive small distances is because they can use the EV portion for majority of their driving and not use any gas or the ice portion of the vehicle. Plug in hybrids were very good for a while because it gave the benefits of short range electric and long range gas for the average consumer. Those are no longer relevant at least here in the states because so many ev’s have much better range now and the charging infrastructure is far better now for most consumers to do road trips in ev’s. Living here in south Florida we get all the tourist escaping the cold from Canada, and the other northern us states. We call them snow birds. Tons are making the drive in their teslas and ev’s seen by all the random Canada plates here during winter.
those living on or around the Tahoe area can also attest to this by the flood of Tesla drivers who show up during the ski months from the Bay Area.
we don’t have snow here in Florida but we do have tons of rain and flooding during the summer months. Obviously my sti is awd but it’s lower and I don’t want to drive it when it pours. So I tend to always have something else awd and higher than the sti.
the other big thing to take into consideration is usage. I take a lot of short trips and my dog always comes with me but can’t always come in. Prior I had to leave my ice car running with the ac going while he stayed inside. It’s usually 100 degrees here in south Florida so no ac is not an option. Now I just turn on dog mode in the Tesla and he’s nice and cool and I’m not burning gas running into the grocery store.
or as this whole conversation started from my picture from the game yesterday. We tail gated for 3 hours prior to the game. 2 1/2 hours were inside the car with the ac. So all that time I would have been idling wasting gas. Instead I just used 2% of my battery. I also have max regeneration turned on so I’m gaining mileage back with that too.
im not saying everyone needs to go out and get an ev. Hell I personally wouldn’t only own just an ev atm. That’s why I still have ice vehicles. But if I can own one ev and I’m doing a little something to help the environment even if it’s just little old me, what’s the problem with that?
Na the average Tesla owner will tell you how it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. Or has amazing build quality and only uses the best parts and will tell you how great Elon is for the world.
I’ll flat out say it’s not the best. Build quality still isn’t great. Materials are eh and Elon can suck a dick. The model y was just the best overall option for me ev wise for cost, performance and mileage.

I might be missing your point but you are also missing my point with the production emissions.
The way I imagine it is that I see a stack, at he bottom of the stack there is emissions from production (for every single type of car). At that point the gas stack starts lot lower than the EV stack. Over time this stack gets higher, faster for the gas car. This stupid stack has emissions from everything like burning fuel, rubber from tires that ends up to the nature and for the EV eventually new batteries, that is a huge step back.
I don't know how you think of emissions but I see this stack getting bigger and bigger everyday for everything in my life
I don't hate EVs or Tesla(except for the stupid ass seats and Musk), I like them for different reasons. Like the nice winter performance. Just like you said long road trips aren't a problem either even in northern Sweden, it's possible without stress.
I don't know about the market there, but here you can get a lightly used awd Taycan for the same price as new awd Model Y.
I Would get lightly use Taycan everyday of the week from those options. Avant version of it is the best looking EV on the market.
Bottom line is tha EVs are not green or environmentally friendly. Maybe in the future

Bottom line ev’s are more green than ice vehicles. Which is the entire point. It’s not all or nothing.
If you’re looking for something that’s a complete net zero across the board you’re going to be looking a long time. Tell your parents to sell all their vehicles and start riding bikes then.
progress is only made with steps. You don’t go from pollution to zero pollution instantly. Ev’s are a step in the right direction being more green than any ice vehicle. Period.
PartyBullshiitTell your parents to sell all their vehicles and start riding bikes then.
This might be little bit hard. Other one needs a car for work trips and the other one can't ride a bike for longer than 500 meters before getting too exhausted or can't use bus because then one that goes from here is full of immigrants and poor people.
I ride my bike or take the bus to school everyday. I only drive to ski+ sometimes climbing. That is like 1500km per season in a car that burns fuel like 6.5L/100km. that is around 0.23 tonnes of CO2. Emissions from longer trips are shared with other travelling people. I don't buy too much useless shit. This year I have bought 2 pairs of skis and bindings, sunglasses and a Lego Concorde. I like to think I'm on the better side. I ain't perfect

Sorry my friend. That was a joke, I was being facetious. Sometimes things come across wrong on forums especially with two different cultures. It’s all good.

I got that it was a joke. First part of my answer was like half serious even though all I said was true.
Other part was serious. I just think it's sometimes better to add a serious answer to jokes.
There is nothing you can say on the internet that gets me mad or offended. If I see something I don't like I will either write something equally stupid back or log out:) I don't believe in pure internet bullying.
Don't say anything too sarcastic to my face in real life though, I will get confused :D
