Feel you OP, we're in the same boat. I over rotate like 95% of my tries. Sent my first few backflips to snow last may, continued where I left mid october and have around 15 tries on snow so far. Fortunately enough I still land on my feet just about every time, staying alive to send another one.
In my case I feel like it's just paying the price to learn something rad. More reps in, more relaxed tricks out. For me it's very hard to be patient and not tuck because I learned to backflip the gymnastics way, always tucking and landing on the same spot I popped off the trampoline.
The struggle goes on again starting next sunday, hit me a follow on Instagram to see how it goes :)
