this really makes me want to buy a fast pass just to ski past all you boners who are going to "heckle" and "bully" those who paid to have a better experience than you hahaha
I think the main thing that bothers me is its just further class division and, on a small level, segregation in an already elitist sport.
If it made your regular everyday ticket more affordable to your average rider that would promote more people to get into skiing an snowboarding I would support it but ultimately it's just for the resort, and the corporation running it, to make more profits that won't benefit anyone but the owners.
eheathAs I said before, I don't think this will affect the normal skier, these people skipping the line isn't going to cause you to ski less, thats a ridiculously dramatic take.
eheathHonestly, who cares? What does this actually change? I'm being genuine, not trolling.
It's the same amount of people in the line, the amount of people who actually do this won't change the lift line, it's not like these rich resort patrons are hard core 9-4 hot laps all day kinda person, I'm honestly still wondering why people think this is such a big deal.
Resorts have had "fast tracks" for years and every resort already had this in the form of a Ski School line, people legit pay for a private lesson so they can skip the line.
Let the resort milk the rich, I would bet that it won't affect your experience.
eheathI'll out ski you all day every day bud. Keep your petty insults to yourself, I asked a legit question that has yet to be answered by any post on NS since this whole fast track thing came out.
ill take that bet
you gonna wipe that vail corp sauce off your mouth and put some money in it?
or dolan out
eheathGod forbid the ski resort makes money? Like what? please explain to me how the resort making more money from rich tourists is a bad thing.
Why not they charge twice as much for food instead of letting a bunch of entitled rich tourists skip the line? I agree that realistically it’s not going to affect the lines for the rest of us, it’s just gonna be obnoxious seeing those asshats cut the line
i think this take is a good take. So many people coming from all over the world and want to ensure they have a great time…. people already spending thousands to travel and stay on vacation, whats an extra hundred bucks to cut the line? also, if ppl bought an ikon months ago, and pay for fast past day of, its like buying a cheaper day ticket that lets you cut. i think it’ll be very busy and will cause a noticable amount of wait time increase on busy day. that being said im sure theres days where it wont make that big difference.
BigPurpleSkiSuitPart of it is the principle of it, I don't think there should be a privilege to cut the line for powder turns just because you have money. I get that it exists in the form of a 7 summits pass at Snowbird, and that's stupid enough when you're one of the first 10 people in line for the tram and then there's 45 7 summits people who take the whole Tram and most of the next one instead of you, who has waited since 6:30 AM for it. However, 7 Summits is 20k for a season and there aren't really enough of them to drastically affect my experience apart from the Tram.
Having a per diem fast pass that caps around 115 dollars according to Snowbird as of recently would definitely have many takers. Imagine if you're a family in town on Ikon passes that makes 200 grand a year, would you pay another 250 bucks for you and your husband to get fast passes while your kids are in a lesson? I think that answer is yes, and considering resorts have made no effort to talk about any real numbers related to a cap, they just say "It'll be limited guys!" they'll sell as many of these as they possibly can.
If I'm standing in line for 45 minutes (which has happened before, I've timed it on peak pow days that were not on Ikon blackout days) and there's a separate line which takes 5 minutes and has 200 people lapping the same shit over and over again while I'm stuck, I'd say that affects my experience, completely ignoring that this information was made public 6 months after season passes were first offered.
In conclusion, yes it does affect my experience, probably not as much as Ikon, but it's the diarrhea frosting on the log of shit cake management at the bird and Powdr Corp keeps shoving down our throats. So yes, I do plan to voice my complaints and heckle the shit out of people in the fast pass lane at Snowbird. I love skiing enough that a certain point, as long as I'm skiing, I won't care, but first pow day when people see the scenario I described above, it's not gonna be friendly, I can tell you that.
I hate to say it man, but it may be time to abandon the bird.

Me too man, I just love the terrain so much there, like I could ski Chips laps all day and not get bored, I haven't found any other place I can do that at, and anywhere I go will always be compared to the bird.

I respect your opinion on this but from personal experience at Whistler there is an issue. Ski school in Whistler (as you were talking about rich people paying instructors to cut the line with them) gets every third chair on average. There are now enough ski school people (kids and adults) that there is constantly a line in the ski school section. This means the normal line (standard lift ticket) is now going to be 33% slower. With most of us here being generally fast skiers id say that most of our day is actually just waiting in line, especially skiing resort in whistler. This means we legitimately get less laps in a day than if there was only one line for everyone. This is also currently happening, I watched it constantly all year, I used to joke thats why Whistler Freeride kids are so good because they get double the laps :). Sometimes they will literally lap you on peak chair while you're in line.
So no I don't think we are being ridiculously dramatic... It's just a system with no oversight that is ridiculously run. One day we all spent an extra hour standing in the rain at blackcomb gondi because no one was alternating the ski school line properly so they were taking half of the gondi's instead of every third, then skiing to mid, coming back down and going up again. I'm not saying theres a problem with getting lessons to ski and getting more laps to value this instruction, but there are too many people getting lessons for how the current line system works.
I predict that the fast pass lines will have about the same amount of oversight and that's why people see this as an issue.
grantlewis_dntmthis really makes me want to buy a fast pass just to ski past all you boners who are going to "heckle" and "bully" those who paid to have a better experience than you hahaha
no ones talking to you scumbag go back to your snowboarding forums
What bothers me yes so you’re thing you’re 0.1% rich and do you’re thing cool but the sport getting less and less accessible is bothering me a lot. knowing a family where parents can only take their kids once a year will have to wait longer and get less laps in. Just feels close to cheating but not seen this way cause you are privileged. The passionate skiers living in ski towns like I do sacrifice on so much to just to be around that is if you’re able to find housing that isn’t taken over airbnb rentals
. Like if we’re getting to the point we’re we can’t access an outdoor sport equally is hard to accept
elm.How exactly does it work? Do they let 2 fast track people on for every one regular person?
when they had it at PC, it was a line that goes all the way to the end of the maze and they would alternate fast tracks in if anyone was in the line, which was pretty rare.
