Also organize a boycott of any cafeteria services. They already got your money when you bought your pass but you can make a plea that any revenue gained from the fast track program will be lost food and beverage sales.
Honestly, who cares? What does this actually change? I'm being genuine, not trolling.
It's the same amount of people in the line, the amount of people who actually do this won't change the lift line, it's not like these rich resort patrons are hard core 9-4 hot laps all day kinda person, I'm honestly still wondering why people think this is such a big deal.
Resorts have had "fast tracks" for years and every resort already had this in the form of a Ski School line, people legit pay for a private lesson so they can skip the line.
Let the resort milk the rich, I would bet that it won't affect your experience.

Just cause you need a break at the bottom of the hill doesn’t mean we all do
MaimHelpJust cause you need a break at the bottom of the hill doesn’t mean we all do
I'll out ski you all day every day bud. Keep your petty insults to yourself, I asked a legit question that has yet to be answered by any post on NS since this whole fast track thing came out.

God forbid the ski resort makes money? Like what? please explain to me how the resort making more money from rich tourists is a bad thing.
grantlewis_dntmyou broke boys continue to stay hating. catch me zooming by all you losers on my special blends in the fast pass lane 💯
zoom past us in some mediocre park skis you won in a contest? Which somehow proves you're rich?
We all know your broke dumb ass isn't buying any fast passes. And if you do, you're an even bigger dumbass for wasting your money. I make six figures & I'm not buying no fucking fast passes.

armchair_skierIf fast passes are so bad then stop skiing at places that have them???
Some people don’t have a choice.
@eheath i was gonna quote yours too but I’m too lazy to go back and do it so I’ll just tag you.
I think it will affect us normal skiers simply because these extra people paying for a fast pass will ultimately get more laps than you. Think about it their full lap could be twice as fast as yours because they don’t have to wait in a 20 minute lift line. The way I see it it’s just paying to cut the line.
And I don’t think people get private lessons for the sole reason of getting to skip the line pretty much. it’s just a perk of it. If a resort advertises a paid ticket to cut the line I think you’d have a lot more rich folk going after it because quite frankly some of these fat wallet mfs already know how to ski and don’t need a private lesson or whatever.

This isn’t a bad idea but I feel like if that happened they would just jack up the price of the initial season pass to begin with lol
eheathGod forbid the ski resort makes money? Like what? please explain to me how the resort making more money from rich tourists is a bad thing.
The fact of the matter is that snow sports are already expensive, and fast tracks / passes mean the richer get to take away time from others.
Wether it makes me wait 20 minutes longer or only a minute per lap, I straight up don’t think it’s right to take peoples time away like that. It’s at the expense of others who are already paying a lot to be there.
If you can’t see how that’s fucked then I’m baffled. Saying “they’ve had fast tracks before and ski lessons are basically the same” doesn’t change that it’s fucked.
That’s like saying, “hey, we all shouldn’t give a shit about the new chemicals they’re putting in our food, because we’ve already been dealing with other ones for awhile now.”

Im not sure who you think will be paying for fast tracks, but its not the people who ski hard all day, theyre gonna ski 9-11 eat lunch for 2 hours and ski for another hour after lunch.
And people 100% get private lessons to skip the line, I've discussed it with multiple people from multiple resorts.
I think you and others are being dramatic just to be dramatic, its fucking annoying, you have no idea how its going to affect you, you're just assuming based on literally nothing.

As I said before, I don't think this will affect the normal skier, these people skipping the line isn't going to cause you to ski less, thats a ridiculously dramatic take.

Skiblade420You have no idea just how bad it might get at certain mountains who implement / move towards this direction.
Your stupid takes are getting down voted brother.
lol i get downvoted by the same group of children all the time i dont fucking care dude.
And in my opinion, you're being dramatic. I have skied the smallest resorts, I've skied the biggest resorts, a handful of richies buying fast tracks will not affect the average skier other than watching them go into the line. If you guys wanna be all up and arms about it then go for it, but I'm gonna call you out on being dramatic.

I guess that makes sense for western resorts, all I know is at my hill (springs) and hills alike, I highly doubt people would pay for a lesson solely just to skip the line.
I don’t think we’re being dramatic… me at least… I think we’re just being methodical about all of it and weighing out all the factors on paper. Then again you could be right, because things don’t always go by what was planned on paper.

I think its a bit ridiculous to think that a small group of people is gonna change how the resort operates, the lifts are still pumping thousands of people up the mountain every hour. I think you guys are overestimating how many people will actually pay for this service and need to realize its a money grab by the resort that will have zero effect on your daily skiing.
when will you guys learn that life isn't fair? money buys you opportunities. if you can't stand to ski at a BUSINESS where you have to wait maybe two extra chairs to get up the mountain, then maybe you should take your money elsewhere

While i agree about the business part of skiing, some people really don't have another option, especially younger skiers.

thats what im saying. if you don't have the money to do so, then suck it up and realize that LIFE ISN'T FAIR AND SOMEBODY WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN YOU

Until someday in the darkest future they have special expensive pass only chairlifts to access the best terrain, fastpass lines in the caf, and special parking at the base of the lift for more money.
Aw man they already do the parking thing here we are already in the darkest timeline...
TOAST.If you hate fast pass lines then you hate 'Murica
I am Canadian and I hate fastpass. Socialized healthcare and ski lifts yes.

Its funny how everyone forgot how Vail created the Epic pass, which caused the IKON pass, which is what is actually threatening skiing. What you just described will likely never happen, but people have been paying for early access to resorts for years, people have been paying to cut the line for years, you guys are just finally learning about it.
eheathGod forbid the ski resort makes money? Like what? please explain to me how the resort making more money from rich tourists is a bad thing.
My opinion on this matter largely depends on the resort and who the owners are. My resort doesn’t have fast track and I’m just playing along cause it’s fun.
And also, how are they going to let people up? because one day on a pow day or after the lift breaks down on peak chair theres gonna be a lift line that backs up and looks like this:
And when all the people on the left are fast-pass, i dont know if the right people are ever getting on.
Also if you think the resort companies haven't done the market research to nail down the exact price people who aren't rich are going to be willing to pay to "skip the line" you dont know how buisnesses work. This isn't going to be a rich-only cash grab for long, until its a mandatory upsell if you want to ski powder in the first 4 hours of lift operating times. Expecially with staged opening times on some lifts, like in Whis.

Bro if you think more than 100 people are gonna buy this every day then idk what to tell you, you guys just want to be mad about something.
EightsailsIf you think a resort mega-buisness like Vail is adding a whole new buisness model over less than 100 people a day i dont know what to tell you.

Its not a new strategy, fast tracks has existed for 20 years, they're just expanding it to more of their resorts. They'll definitely collect some revenue but its a drop in the bucket compared to retail, lodging and food and bev revenue. Ticket sales don't pay the bills and that includes a "new" fast tracks system.
"Catering to the rich." Said by the demographic of skiers lucky enough to still keep the privilege of snow sports like skiing in their lives. Like how fucking tone deaf are some of you.
Part of it is the principle of it, I don't think there should be a privilege to cut the line for powder turns just because you have money. I get that it exists in the form of a 7 summits pass at Snowbird, and that's stupid enough when you're one of the first 10 people in line for the tram and then there's 45 7 summits people who take the whole Tram and most of the next one instead of you, who has waited since 6:30 AM for it. However, 7 Summits is 20k for a season and there aren't really enough of them to drastically affect my experience apart from the Tram.
Having a per diem fast pass that caps around 115 dollars according to Snowbird as of recently would definitely have many takers. Imagine if you're a family in town on Ikon passes that makes 200 grand a year, would you pay another 250 bucks for you and your husband to get fast passes while your kids are in a lesson? I think that answer is yes, and considering resorts have made no effort to talk about any real numbers related to a cap, they just say "It'll be limited guys!" they'll sell as many of these as they possibly can.
If I'm standing in line for 45 minutes (which has happened before, I've timed it on peak pow days that were not on Ikon blackout days) and there's a separate line which takes 5 minutes and has 200 people lapping the same shit over and over again while I'm stuck, I'd say that affects my experience, completely ignoring that this information was made public 6 months after season passes were first offered.
In conclusion, yes it does affect my experience, probably not as much as Ikon, but it's the diarrhea frosting on the log of shit cake management at the bird and Powdr Corp keeps shoving down our throats. So yes, I do plan to voice my complaints and heckle the shit out of people in the fast pass lane at Snowbird. I love skiing enough that a certain point, as long as I'm skiing, I won't care, but first pow day when people see the scenario I described above, it's not gonna be friendly, I can tell you that.
