Its just such a cozy game. almost like an ideal game to play stoned. You just wander around beautiful islands, living pretty comfortably and stoned. Coca bushes grow here and there. Imagine if the game let you use the fuel and shit you find on shipwrecks to make cocaine out of the coca leaves. That would be crazy.

And if you go into deep or open waters away from the shore there are bigger more dangerous sharks that can and will attack you. This was a very intuitive real-to-life detail the creators worked into the game and its awesome. You get a real sense of how vulnerable you are in the water, and how relatively much safer you are on land.

im literally terrified of going swimming away from
shore. I have music off so i wont hear the sinister music that normally warns of a dangerous large shark present. Its going to fucking slam my fucking jimmies if i get attacked with no warning.

If i could mod this game i would let you grow and farm weed, coca bushes, and opium poppies. Like honestly if you had all 3 and were living comfortably on such a beautiful island why would you ever want to leave.

I checked out raft and rust.

raft seems well made but the premise is kind of ridiculous. If you are floating on a raft in the ocean youre not going to be able to construct a floating casino just buy fishing plastic out of the ocean. Stranded deep is much more dealistic because islands actually can keep you alive.

Rust seems pretty wild but it lacks the sense of isolation and peacefulness you get in stranded deep.

Stranded deep is kind of one of those games you will be happy about never finishing. You can just wander around enjoying the beauty and quietness. Swimming around looking out for sharks is thrilling enough for me because the underwater and sea life element of the game is very well developed. The later parts of the game with giant moray eel and megalodon shark bosses is not very realistic but i guess the game had to cater to players who always want to be progressing towards a goal or the completion of the game.

But make sure you turn off the stupid background music. Nothing realistic about hearing random music playing when you are alone on an island

Didn’t know it came to the switch. I played it years ago when it first came out on steam, it’s fun but it got kinda old quickly. Looks like they’ve added way more content since I last played though, y’all think it’s worth buying a second time?

What console would you be playing it on?

i think if ur getting it for pc again you could probably just download whatever update/patch they made. But consoles apparently added some stuff that wasnt in the original pc version.



if you have a switch tho i would get it again. Cast away was always my favorite movie to watch stoned, and this game really seems to check all the same boxes and more.

my dream is to one day have a private island in the ocean with a nice cozy house on it and a poppy plantation.

Yeah it’s still in my steam library but I haven’t played it in years- my current laptop would probably shit the bed if I tried to run it with the new updates lol.

I really only game on my switch so I could maybe see myself getting it at some point. Currently playing subnautica tho so idk if I need another ocean survival game.

Subnautica is a cool looking game too but i havent gotten it yet. SD is really cool tho in the way the water gets much deeper as you move further away from the islands into open water. Also when you go swimming when it rains the color in the water is very real to life.

Same. I always wondered why tom hanks left the island in cast away. It was paradise. Have you seen the dicaprio movie “the beach”. Its another good one. The island he finds in malaysia has a marawanas plantation on it.

I played this game on your recommendation (it was free on psn a few months ago so it was in my library) and this game seriously sucks dude it's so clunky and basically a giant waste of time. i'd rather be trapped on an island in real life than ever play this game again

The game seems to run pretty well on my switch. Its not as seamless as red dead 2 on xb series x but its i pretty fantastic port on switch imo.
