What Color of PVC slides the best?

Is it just me or do the different types/colors of PVC slide differently? I think the thick walled light blue pipe slides by the best, is that a common experience?

That being said I don’t think it matters. Keep in mind pvc likes to break when it gets cold. So make sure you’re using at least schedule 40 piping or a larger diameter pipe that will yield a greater thickness.

From personal experience the deeper the blue the better it slides, black pipes seem to slide differently too. Ive had some sticky pipes before and they were all blue.

HDPE (the red pipe in TC and a lot of the black pipe you see in Euro parks/TC/RCFS) is different than PVC. PVC tends to get more brittle and crack in colder temperatures, but is much cheaper. HDPE is more durable, but gets softer and slows down in warmer temps.

If you get regular white PVC get solid core instead of foam core. Solid core has red lettering on the pipe and foam core has black lettering. Solid core is heavier and more expensive but it’s designed to be buried and is a lot more heavy duty than foam core.

get a job in construction and you will have all the pvc you want. Or better yet, rail. I got a 10' handrail the other day at work

I use grey that is really thick never had an issue and it’s starting to get flat spots in the top too

Haven't done a back to back test myself, but I think you're right, HDPE is going to slide better.

HDPE high density poly ethelyne
PVC poly vinyl chloride

and more abrasion and heat resistant.

more suitable for direct burial and trenchless installations.

The blue stuff is called C900 it’s really expensive and obnoxiously heavy because the pipe wall is so thick. They use it in the right of way when there isn’t at least 2 feet of bury depth because it’s way stronger so it will hold up to traffic at shallow depth.

Exactly, the C900 / Blue Brute is the gold standard for PVC tubes imo

one time we were getting out water out of one of those blue pipes on the jobsite, the water pressure was so high you could shoot it over the neighbors house. clean out a wheelbarrow in like .5 seconds
