Reply with jobs that will be recession/ depression proof when shtf very soon! Explain why you chose job I’ll start with an obvious one
1- Electrician, all you would really worry about is materials in a supply shortage (like we are now) but if you possess the skills and practice this trade things would not look nearly as dim for you as someone who is a Graphic Designer

Municipal government is pretty recession proof. You don’t want to work for the feds remember when sequestration hit because Congress couldn’t manage to not fuck themselves in their own mouths and tons of people got laid off? That was really stupid. In general state and county governments are really broke and pay is shit. City is what you want

Anything where you fix things like a mechanic, applience repair, plumber, etc. Stuff that people need to live will always keep breaking and if times are tough they are less likely to just replace expensive items.

Pretty much any job where you're providing a service that is a necessity and not a luxury.

Healthcare probably held out the longest last year but still caved to furloughs and layoffs cuz elective surgeries were cancelled and that makes up a huge chunk of income for hospitals.

Mostly. I don't see all these craft brewers that started in the last 5 years doing well if the average consumer has less disposable income to dump on $7 mediocre IPAs.

yes that’s a generalization but i think it’s probably pretty accurate, now i’m gonna go look at alcohol sales per year and look for bumps during recessions 😂

I work in the technology side of Group Health Insurance and its pretty bombproof because companies will always need insurance for employees. Its boring a shit a lot of times but its a good paycheck. You kind of get sucked in and its hard to leave the industry though.

Working on getting my license right now. I’m only an apprentice but I make 20 an hour with full benefits and my company is paying for my school. And I work in new construction so i rarely have to deal with gross shit.

Yup, another plumber here! I make 25 an hour right now while also working on getting my license. Company I work for is too busy so the work is definitely there and it ain’t goin nowhere. Plus side work is where the real money is at.

its a job most office workers overlook.



but srsly get a government job. City busdrivers make 150k a yr in some places. The government sac of gold is like emma watsons pussy getting thrown into san quentin. Working for big brother is easy money.

That being said, the government has become a cancer that is writing checks that will eventually bounce but why not have fun riding the nuke until everything gets destroyed anyway.

I’m a millwright at a steel mill. Even if the steel making process was fully automated, machines still break and need fixed. I suppose this goes for most maintenance/mechanic type jobs

Had an interview at a steel mill once, didn't really want the job but I was about to graduate and wanted interview experience. After going to the plant I knew it was not for me. Props to you though, bet it's pretty interesting.

As mentioned, plumbers, electricians, etc these trades are always in demand. If you can, learn to write code and you'll find someone who needs your skills. If you're an entrepreneurial type, it's pretty easy to setup ecommerce stores and you can run ads. If you find a formula that works you can make aton of money

Im a High School English teacher (In Alberta where we are paid well) two weeks off at Christmas, weekends off, spring break off, 90 paid sick days, raise every year for 15 years, full pension and benefits and uhhh 8 weeks off in July and August.. Not to mention the option to run a ski club for a free pass and gear discounts.

*Disclaimer* I really love teaching kids so that helps

Trades. Your body gets beat up but you'll make decent $$$$.

EMS/Firefighting/Paramedic/Wildland Firefighting or anything in that world. There's a shortage in that world or about to be due to people quitting because of vaccine mandates or because of the huge workloads everywhere across the board. Wildland allows for seasonal work and winters off but could also allow you to transfer into the fire service or depending on the level of training you have, could do stuff like SAR and ski patrol which are also jobs that are always in-demand. Also with the ability to have tuition reimbursement depending on what agency/company you work for, You can pursue further education that won't cost much and with given time, end up with a pretty sweet medical career and degrees/certs/knowledge.

Can vouch for the alcohol industry mentioned above. When things are good, our industry is good, when times are bad, industry is better. During covid we had to ramp up production to assist with distilleries making alcohol for hand sanitizer.
