Do you have a successful ski shop nearby? Particularly interested in those with a freeride, retail focus, as opposed to rentals being their main attraction. Also those succeeding in less-than-urban markets. Are any of your shops throwing events any more? Etc.

I’m in Canmore but banff has monods and it’s fucking great. Ski techs are good and know shit. Best ski shop in the bow valley if u ask me

Really impressed with Sporting intentions on PEI. For a place with very little skiing, they have a great selection of skis and boots with a good proportion of twintips.
Also the Pro shop at Smokey Mountain Ski Club in Labrador City is good for being so remote.

EVO, Next Adventure, and Hillcrest are all solid options. My last boot purchase I went to all 3 until I found the boot for me.

US Outdoor has fallen the fuck off.

Village Ski Hut - If you're in the Nelson this is the best shop in town IMO. All the staff are super helpful and know what they're talking about. Got my touring boots fitted there. Honestly the most comfortable and well fitting boots i've ever had. Ask for Ian and he'll hook you up with a perfect fit.

MTN works in LaGrande. Definitely a bike store that is also a ski store. The owner is by far the best ski tech I have ever met and a pretty damn good bootfitter. Not much in retail skis themselves but wonder customer service


And I agree. Us outdoor in PDX is fucking dead

I'd stop there every time passing by when I lived around there, cool people and always a hidden gem or two. Especially cheap Black Diamond sample jackets

out in Chicago Scandinavian ski shops isnt bad they have a shit ton of rentals but they run out by like November. so main season no rental shitters. good free ride selection but like no park stuff anymore.

Fullsend Ski & Outdoor in Canandaigua New York! Its a freeride/freestyle specialty shop that does it right. Im slightly biased because i work there but even if i didn't it would be my favorite shop. Yeah the name is pretty interesting to say it politely but service is unmatched in new york. If you break shit outside of store hours or need something on the way to the hill shoot us a call and the owner will make it happen. One of my favorite things about us is how we run the tuning shop. Techs get paid per job so the turn around time is faster than any other shop i've been to, Its pretty much like getting rush service without paying any additional charge. As far as other good shops in new york, snowflake and the city garage are both very nice too. Im sorry if this sounds like self promotion, I in no way own any part of the store i'm just a clerk that loves where I work!

all chicago ski shops are dogshit. theyre fine as bootfitters i guess but just like getting accessories for shit or skis theyre just not good. i asked for a bunch of stuff like if they have or can fit aftermarket booster straps and was wondering if they had the DPS phantom glide treatment and they just plain didnt know what those things and a bunch of other shit were. I ended up getting boots at one place and during the fitting me and the bootfitter were talking about some skis on the wall like the volkl revolt 121 and i was like oh sick ive seen markus eder do insane shit on that thing and another guy who worked there was like "the free ride tour guy? he rides mantras". Buddy wtf are you talking about how are you working at a ski shop

I honestly can’t argue with that for most places, but for what it’s worth I actually have gotten like 2 pairs of booster straps installed at Scandinavian. I def would check it out as at least in my opinion the best local shop around

yeah as bootfitters the chicago places are alright. i got a pair of boots from one of them. when it comes to skis and other gear you're better off just buying your own shit online and not listening to what they say

Sports Page Ski and Patio in Queensbury is hands down the best shop in the NY capital district and ADK’s. Probably some of the best gear selection in terms of skis and boots, their tuning service is fast and professional, and their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Been going to them since I started skiing and I’ve never had a bad experience in terms of boot fitting, tuning, or even getting bindings mounted. No matter what type of skier or rider you are, they will always have something that will best suit your needs.

You would be shocked at how many employees at ski shops across the world just plain make shit up. I had one coworker who used to do it constantly. He was so believable too
